I can't imagine a better way to experience New Orleans! The Lookout Inn offered everything that a traveler and vacationer could hope for. As a traveler, I look for something comfortable, fun and inviting. I hope to find an in-road into meeting people from the community and having a chance to dig into the local scene and its flavor. I... more

In the Bywater area which is coming back from the hurricane. We satyed in the Mission Suite 12 Mar 07-16 Mar 07. Yes there are occasional trains, however they did not detract or bother us. Wonderful, helpful hosts, John and Lisa. Phone did not work, we could live with that. Great landcscaping with small pool, nice hot tub, used both.... more

Well, how can I begin? I booked this hotel through their website, which billed the Lookout Inn as a quaint bed and breakfast. It had slick pictures of the different rooms (I stayed in the Elvis suite). I had a feeling I was being duped a little just from seeing the agles the pictures were taken at. It seemed like... more

New Orleans is not for everyone. This guy was freaked out by the City of New Orleans, not by our neighborhood, or our inn. I understand why he had a horrible time. He was very angry with us before he arrived because he mistakingly thinks we "duped" him into staying in a "terrible part of town". So he sat in...

We were rather worried that the decor would be tackier than advertised, as you never know from artful internet photos. However, it far exceeded our expectations - the suites are large and the space broken up by fireplaces, which means you don't even get the full scale of them from the net pix. The bathrooms are huge too (especially by... more

I just got back from a 9 night stay at the Lookout. I had the pleasure of staying in two of the four suites- the Elvis and the Mardi Gras. Both were so comfortable and so much fun. The rooms are huge and well appointed. Also the weekday rate is a real steal. The grounds of the Lookout Inn are... more

My boyfriend and I live in the Marigny and have stayed at the Lookout just to get away from the ordinary. This place is truly romantic, and we felt like we owned the place. We could imagine that we were somewhere else entirely, like our own little tropical paradise. The rooms are charming, more than comfortable (making it difficult to... more

This place was very beautiful and luxurious BUT ...like most every bed and breakfast, it's like you're invited to a party the innkeepers are throwing so be sure to mind your ps and qs as they are always looking over your shoulder eager to make an extra dollar. I highly recommend this place for anyone who keeps this in mind... more

The above banned guest has been sending me abusive emails containing profanity, personal insults and has escalated now to disgusting pornographic images. I have reported him to the proper authorities. I don't know how to respond to this because everything in the above review is just, wrong. They say they paid $500 for 3 nights, but it was 5 nights...

I had not been to New Orleans in three years and was not sure what to expect. What my girlfriend and I found was a romantic sanctuary amidst a city fighting for recovery. We found our stay so comforting, the service so amazing, that we could not leave the grounds for the first day. An incredible five course candlelit New... more

A beautiful spot - secluded and cozy in the historical Bywater. A stone's throw from my favorite hangs BJ's and Vaugn's. I had generally stayed with friends or in cheaper hotels when visiting, but this experience has changed all that. The pool area is a treat, the owner super hospitable and laid back, but don't let the relaxed environment deceive... more

The courtyard at the LookOut was simply majestic. Sitting on the steps of the beautiful salt water pool surrounded by tall plants and the sounds of tropical birds was a genuinely tranquil and relaxing experience. Our room was a dim, woody, cool respite after a long day's drive from Austin... XM radio was playing and the big comfortable bed invited... more
