We had a wonderful stay! Mary and Hugh are great hosts and Stanley is the icing on the King's Cake! Hugh gave us a wonderful welcome when arrived for our stay in New Orleans after our Caribbean cruise. My mom was already there waiting for us after flying in from Dallas to spend a few days with us in the... More

After much research on the net & Trip Advisor, my father, my husband & I embarked on a trip to eat our way down to FL. Out of Chicago, we stopped in Memphis first (my review of Cozy Corner BBQ coming soon!) & then on for 2 nights in New Orleans at the 1870 Bananca Courtyard. We were NOT dissapointed!... More

This B and B was well worth the stay. Fantastic location, on edge of French Quarter. Hugh, Mary and the staff were all great hosts. They would answer any questions and give you advice with lots of hard copy information on hand. Mary even took us for a short tour to get us orientated with the quarter. Due to the... More

How very nice of you to take the time to review the B&B. We strive to make the Banana Courtyard experience one that will be treasured for many years to come. Yep. We, too, wish our courtyard was larger, when groups stay with us. We appreciate the feedback. Blame it on the clever Creoles, who knew tax shortcuts. We're told... More

We wanted to stay somewhere different in new Orleans and experience this place as it sounded like it had so much history. It was really cool, lots of different rooms, it's obviously a bit old and it probably could use some work in places but it was nice to have a different feel than your standard hotel room. The staff... More

Thank you for the review of your stay with us. We especially appreciate it when guests take time to mention us. We are so appreciative of the taxicab driver extraordinaire, Stanley, who treats our guests, royally. By the way, we make no money from taxicab pickups. We schedule the taxicab as a service to our guests so they get here... More

The B&B has a front gate and fence that is 6 or more feet high and you are required to use a key to enter. You are also however required to use the key to exit and if there were a fire (it's an old building that shakes in the wind) and if I couldn't get to my key when... More

As always, we appreciate folks taking the time to do an online review. Often, that's the only way we know about things that need to be corrected. Your comments about the front gate locking from both sides hit home that we need to do a better job about letting guests know about the fire exit in the courtyard. We'll add... More

I visited NOLA three times this year, and stayed at Banana Courtyard all three times. That's how much I love this place. My husband and I tried out the Hexagon room this time. It is a very spacious room with a huge bathroom. Being that the room is close to the front of the house, it is a bit noisy... More

My wife and I just spent our anniversary weekend (12/16/11) with Hugh and Mary, and it was a fantastic experience. They made us feel like friends coming for a visit. Our suite was wonderful, with antiques, art, and posters galore. The room was spacious, the bed humongous, and the claw foot tub a delight. Our hosts clued us in on... More

Mary and Hugh, proprietors of the Banana Courtyard, shared their love of New Orleans and their stories, guidance and amazing research about the local scene to make my birthday trip a blast. All of this plus the quirky wonderful old bordello house added up to a very special stay. The Banana Courtyard is best for the able-bodied traveler, or at... More

We are so ignorant of how to use facebook and this site it's ridiculous. We just now discovered that we can respond to reviews. I am sooo sorry we didn't know this before, because we have received so many words of praise it is emotionally overwhelming. Guess it's time for us to try to jump into the internet community. We... Ten fabulous gals had an amazing time in New Orleans!! Many Thanks to Hugh and Mary for all the great information, and making our seven day stay very comfortable at the Banana Courtyard. The house has so much character, great location, perfect for a group like ours. Our airport pickup and departure was arranged for us, would highly recommend to... More

We have vacationed in New Orleans several times, but we never felt more at home! If you want a cookie-cutter hotel this is NOT for you! I called in July to reserve for September and was immediately taken with the owners. Ironically the owners were on vacation when we stayed there but we absolutely ADORED their substitute innkeeper, Debbie. We... More
