While the on-site management leaves a bit to be desired (not very knowledgable or overly helpful) this hotel is a great value. Rooms are large and decently appointed. Our room (Freret Room) had a small fridge and bar sink. Pool would be great in the summer. Wine and cheese 6-8 every night and an assortment of cold breakfast items from... more

Let me start off by saying that I booked this hotel before I read all of the terrible reviews on this site. Had I read these, I would have chosen another hotel and quite possibly missed out on one of the greatest hotel experiences I've ever had. First off, the staff is absolutely lovely. They are charming, helpful, friendly, and... more

I had originally booked my reservation for this hotel many months prior to my trip to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. A week before I was meant to arrive in New Orleans from Canada, my reservation was canceled without explanation by the hotel. The hotel management did not find another hotel for myself and my friend to stay at and... more

I stayed here years ago and thought it was amazing. So I stayed here again, post-Katrina. The place was run-down, the management nonplussed with problems that occurred, and it was WAY OVERPRICED for the service. There was a blackout where there was no electricity in the block; the owner's mother came over, shrugged her shoulders and said, "Oh Well." Oh... more

Let me start by telling you that Melrose is one of the most beautiful small hotel i have ever seen. It`s tastefully decorated in an old renovated house in heartbreakingly charming French Quarter. Your room will look very beautiful. The ceilings will be high, there will be a big and extremely comfortable bed, soft pillows, big windows, high quality toiletries,your... more

The ambience of Melrose Mansion added a great deal to our visit to New Orleans. The room was absolutely stunning - high ceilings, an incredible chandelier, high soft bed, lovely bedding, and big soft pillows. The furniture was a little "distressed", the bathroom far from spacious or luxurious, and the plumbing quite iffy. But when you're staying in a very... more

Do not stay in this hotel! We originally booked two nights in April, but left after the first night. When we booked we were promised fresh flowers in the room, there were none. It took over half an hour to get into our room because they couldn't find the correct key. There were no tea and coffee making facilities in... more

Large room & bathroom, cozy atmosphere and comfy bed. Offers coffee and little breakfast snack in morning. Offers pool for guests and easy parking. Right near all of French District and numerous bars and restaurants. Be cautious traveling, as local bar tenders told us to "be careful out there" due to high rise in crime since Hurrican Katrina. This is... more

Hello Everyone; Just back from the Melrose we had a wonderful stay. The staff were pleased to see us and check in was a breeze. We stayed in the Donecio suite, very nice huge room. Private balcony which was perfect for catching the late afternoon rays. The pool was clean but not heated, maybe not this time of year as... more

The Melrose Mansion is on the far edge of the French Quarter, on Esplanade. Parking is on the street, which is unsecure and hard to find. The neighborhood is a bit scary, with police sirens cruising by all night. There was no one to help carry bags up long Victorian staircase. The bathroom sink was coming away from the wall... more
