During our 2 weeks camping at Custer State Park Blue Bell campground, we ate at the lodge several times. We ordered something different each time and were never disappointed. Try the Apple Crisp....it's incredible!! Jamie was there each time we went to eat and she was always so kind and considerate....made us feel so special. Diana, Allison, and Phil served... More

We enjoyed visiting Custer S.P. the last week of April, and spent 3 nights in one of the newer Housekeeping Cabins at Blue Bell Lodge. Our stay was great in all respects. Even though our first night was "opening night" for the season, our cabin was spic and span, with the heat turned on to welcome us. Beds were comfortable,... More

We enjoyed our stay in the cabins at Blue Bell. It was a bit out of the way from Mt. Rushmore but I wanted to be near the stables for our ride and it was perfect for that. We had a two bedroom cabin that was older style but perfectly fine for us. They are sort of like older hotel... More

The cabins vary in age, construction, size, and location, so if you have particular wishes, it's worth a call to make the reservation. The website is not that helpful. Anna is helpful, though. (Also, the resort website touts the cabins' firepits, but there is currently a fire ban.) We wanted to be able to cook, so we rented a cabin... More

Glad you enjoyed your trip to Custer Park. The cabin you stayed in is rather old. It was built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps to be used as their dorm rooms while they worked in the Black Hills area. We have updated them periuodically and they are due for another update! I suggest you ask for a... More

The website descriptions of the cabin and the chuckwagon dinner/ haywagon ride set my expectations too high. The pictures of the cabins are for the newer two bed cabins and the larger housekeeping cabins were not up to the same standards. The cabin was not bad but I was disappointed. The haywagon rides were pulled by trucks and that turned... More

I apologize for the disappointment in your stay. We have updated them periodically throughout the years and plan to do so in the near future. The new cabins we have built... More

My wife and I just returned from three fantastic nights at the Blue Bell Lodge in Custer State Park. Before I comment on the lodge I want to discuss the overall experience in the park, because they really are inseparable. Custer State Park is a true jewel ---something to be treasured. We tried to take it all in from the... More

So glad you enjoyed your stay! You must have been here during Round-Up. That is quite an event, isn't it? I love all the activity going on the park in September and the beautiful fall colors. See you next time. More

If you want to get away from it all, this is the place to be. The sleeper cabins are perfect for 2 people, the setting is remote and calming. and the wildlife can not be beat. The food and service at the main lodge is excellent, as is the chuck wagon cowboy dinner. The only downside was spotty internet service--... More

We are happy you enjoyed your get away with us! You can usually get internet in the lodge, but Bluebell is pretty remote. As you discovered, it is better to just fill your day with good food, wild animal watching, and relaxing instead. See you next time! More

We stayed in a sleeping cabin at the end of August 2012for 2 nights. It was my husband, myself, and our 20 month old daughter. We loved it! We wish we would have stayed here longer! The cabin was one of the newer cabins, and it was secluded and quiet. It had 2 queen beds, comfy chairs, a table and... More

I wasn't aware that the deer mount could be removed and stashed in the closet! Thanks for the info! So glad you enjoyed your stay. I've spoken with many people who have memories of coming as small children and come back later as adults. Your little one will have some nice memories. See you next time. More

1st off, the location is great. Just off of the "Wildlife Loop" of Custer State Park. The one issue we had was the service at the restaurant. We ate there 2 times. Each time the service was incredibly slow. We were the only two people for breakfast and it took nearly an hour to eat. There were also no grills... More

We're glad you enjoyed your stay with us. I apologize about the misunderstanding about the grill. I'm not sure where you saw it advertised that we had those. I will investigate further and try to correct the misinformation. A few of our locations in the park do have grills, but most do not. It is always a good idea to... More

We stayed in a handicapped sleeping cabin with our family of 2 adults and 3 kids. I think they gave us the handicapped cabin so we'd have more room with the 3 kids and it was great. It was nice and new and fresh and had more room inside than I expected. It was great to have a small kitchenette... More
