When I arrived, I thought this guesthouse was a house of horrors. An ancient couple showed me to my spacious room, which needed a good clean. I couldn't get the hot water to work when I needed a shower and had to hunt down a roll of loo paper. However, the view from the balcony overlooking the Donau River was terrific.

Dinner downstairs was wonderful. The granddaughter took excellent care of me, the food was delicious and the locals were friendly and welcoming.

Obviously a popular pub, this guesthouse has probably seen better days, but it was incredibly cheap and worth the cultural experience. more
