I just came back from Bosnia, specifically Medjugorje, site of the Marian Apparition in 1981. I stayed at Pansion Porta and am really glad I did. This is why: Medjugorje is a village on its way to expansion. The church is the central focus of the town and pansions near it are expensive and overpriced. Pansion Porta is on the road to Mostar and spitting distance from the road to Split. There is a beautiful short cut (Kurzweg) thru a neighborhood, a vineyard, fields of fresh sod, flower and vegetable gardens, a veritable nature walk, which takes you in 12 minutes to the church, restaurants, shops. You can fiddle around for 30 minutes on the short cut just taking pictures. Pansion Porta is owned and operated by Daniel and his parents, Katarina and Ivan Bencun.
