We got a really good deal for staying in Mauna Loa Village for about $100/night. The one bedroom suite was very big with a nice and convenient kitchen, washer and dryer. Holua Resort is a real find. South of Kona it is perfect for couples and families. The units are spacious and very well appointed. Here's a tip -- if your flight is leaving late the last day, you can still enjoy the beach. Holua Resort will provide you with towels, shampoo and soap and you can shower off in their pretty-decent gym.
