Thank you to our hosts Ken and Sue and Kryste, and to their gardner, Mike, for making this an exceptionally pleasant stay for 10 nights in May. The accomodations were clean and comfortable, the grounds were beautiful and the location was perfect. I'm still telling friends about the great breakfasts and coffee, and, most importantly, about our hosts, who exemplified... more

We stayed here 10 days and could not have been more comfortable. We stayed in the smallest room at the B&B and it was, while small, very comfortable. The staff which consitsted of the owners , and their daughter as well as a gardner could not have been more accomadating and friendly. The rooms are cleaned and made up daily.... more

We stayed in the Makua Room at Hale Maluhia for 3 days in May 2009 and it was simply the most wonderful B&B that we have ever been experienced. The hosts, Ken and Sue, could not have been friendlier, the accommodations were clean, the breakfast of fresh breads baked daily accompanied by fruit, juices, eggs any style, meats and pastries... more

We just returned from this wonderful retreat and miss it already. You don't realize until you've been there for a few days the peace and serenity that inhabit your experience there. The rooms were so clean, the owners so kind, and the breakfasts were legendary. Either as a home base for island exploring or just a place to relax and... more

We travelled half way round the world hoping to experience Hawaii rather than just another US state and were not disappointed. Many of the coastal hotels and condos could be anywhere in the world, but Ken has created an Hawaiian retreat on the hillside and is more than happy to share his vast knowledge of the island and its history... more

This is a wonderful place to stay! If my husband and I had realized how close it is to everything on the island, we would not have stayed anywhere else. The breakfasts were spectacular, especially the home-made bread and fresh pineapple. My husband loved the omelets and coffee cake. The coffee was hot and sooo good. Eating on the covered... more

Alhoa. Excuse me if I ramble but I cannot say enough about Hale Maluhia. The owners, Ken and Sue Smith and all the associates working there are wonderful. If you need anthing you just need to ask. The cottage rooms are so beautiful and very clean. When you wake up you feel that you are waking up in Hawaii of... more

Built in the 70s and then expanded (according to the proprietress), this nice little compound offers a restful, quiet spot to breakfast and relax in the mornings before you head off down the hill for daytime activities. (Breakfast, incidentally, is not merely continental; ample omelet makings are available for DYI in addition to tropical fruits and homemade bread.) The breakfast... more

our family loved our stay here. Ken and Sue went out of their way to accommodate the needs of our teenagers, and found them their own "space" . Travelling with 3 kids, this is very needed and appreciated. The home was beautiful, the grounds are like paradise, the hot tub was clean and luxurious, the breakfasts were amazing. We felt... more

The Hale Maluhia Country Inn was the first B&B we stayed at on our 1-week Big Island trip (for 2 nights). We got there after a 6-night stay at a hotel in Honolulu so you could imagine how we loved this place. It was so different. It was a beautiful property, quiet and peaceful. 'The breakfast was delicious and plentiful,... more
