My wife and I stayed at the Walkabout town in August 2012. It is convenient to downtown Anchorage. The room was adequate and the breakfast, which varied each day, was ample. We did have some confusion upon arrival apparently related to the owners being away on vacation but once this was sorted out things went smoothly thereafter.

I went to Anchorage in August (2012) and it was already fall in Alaska. We stayed at Walkabout and I was amazed when I went to breakfast. We really enjoyed our stay at Walkabout. Hosts are welcoming and friendly. They provide a great breakfast and a nice homey place to eat. Interesting guests from all over the world. We used this B&B for two one-night stays on either side of a trip to Denali. Given the outrageous price-gouging that is the norm in Anchorage during the summer ($170 for Motel 6!!!), this B&B offered the best value (though it was still markedly over-priced). What a wonderful home and B&B! Decent location and rates but I have to rave about the cleanliness of the rooms- immaculate. The breakfast in the morning rivals any a 5 with everything you can imagine including homemade yogurt, rhubarb jam etc. If my travels kept me in the Anchorage area, I wouldn't stay anywhere else.
