The hotel was decorated with a nautical theme with comfortable, nicely appointed rooms. We did request a view of the inlet but instead got a few of downtown. The service in the Whales Tail restaurant was very slow even though it didn't appear to be packed with customers. They tended to appear rushed and understaffed for the meals we had... more

We stayed here before and after a cruise ( utterly awesome - go before the ice glaciers melt!) and were very impressed by the starightforward nature of the hotel - nice clean rooms, good and reasonably priced food and a nice "can do" attitude from the staff. We were in rooms which had great views which added to the experience.... more

We checked in on Saturday afternoon, the desk clerk gave us a wonderful dinner recommendation at a nearby restaurant where the locals meet. The Captain Cook is in a wonderful location for walking around downtown Anchorage with great views of the Cook Inlet and the tides. more

I stayed at this hotel a couple days ago. It had a great location, close to shopping, the waterfront, and restaurants. Glacier Brewhouse, Orso, Snow City Cafe were within two blocks. And the Crow's Nest was right in the hotel, although it was closed when we were there. Also there is a bike rental place a block or so away... more

Location is in the heart of the city and walking distance to most attractions and hiking trail along inlet. It feels like old Alaska, with lots of wood, built sparing no expense and with a few dining options and access to many more within walking distance, lots of unique gift shops inside hotel are worth looking at to get a... more

Stayed here on arrival in Alaska. Arrived early evening and left by bus early the next morning by bus for the load portion of our land/cruise excursion. We did not eat there, but had dinner and breakfast nearby. The room was OK, requested a king bed with a review and got a queen no view !!!! The hotel was part... more

Although an 'older' property, we found it to be charming, clean with great staff. The hotel is located in the heart of Anchorage. Convienent to everything 'downtown'. We will stay again on our next business trip to the Great North. more

Since this was my first time at Captain Cook's they upgraded me to a corner suite on the 12 floor. Wow what a view and wow what a room. Extremely clean and nice and great service. Great location and within walking distance to many restaurants and shopping locations. I will definitely stay here again the next time I visit anchorage.... more

I stayed here 6 nights, from 26-Feb-2009 to 4-Mar-2009, in a Captains Deck suite. I love this hotel. The staff is exceptional - the doorman, bellmen, front desk, maids, etc. The staff is friendly, efficient, and can't do enough for you. No bad attitudes here! The room sizes are on the smaller side, but the views of the inlet, mountains,... more

Based on other reviews on trip advisor we booked a room on the Captains Deck. Well worth the extra expense. This package includes self parking at the garage, breakfast, Hor d'oeuvres, and fitness center access. The room was on the small side, but it was very clean, and had great views. Every staff member was very friendly and accommodating. The... more
