I was impressed with my recent stay at this Best Western. Even with its location right on the New Seward Highway as it enters midtown, the traffic noise really was not an issue. I'm sorry, I can't stay at a hotel with a dead lion displayed in the lobby. Do people eat lion meat, I don't think so! So if no one ate the meat (like you could from an elk or bear), I guess the animal has been wasted! What a shame! I'd prefer to stay someplace else! more

lobby smell funny, elevator is frightning old (just check if the permit is still valid). matress very very smooth but the room is clean and ok. Was there only for one night, wouldn't recommend more. more
I stayed at the golden lion in Anchorage July 26-30, 2009. Front desk was bickering with each other upon arrival, same lady would be eating at the front desk everytime i passed.It's not all that bad looking, clean enough...I did not like the food, it tasted terrible actually. very expensive city. this hotel is in a great location, near the airport and the turnagain hote. quite at night, friendly helpful staff. bring blinders in the summer as their curtains do nothing to block out the 'midnight sun' more
Nice hotel. A bit on the older side. Within walking distance of a few places to eat. Room was very clean which is a big thing with me and hotel rooms. The cleaning staff was great. Front desk folks are ok. more
People who come to Alaska expecting anything but real people with real virtue will be disappointed. I've stayed here every time I stayed in Anchorage and although its not a hoity toity resort sort of place, the same people have been working here for 30 years and dont mess around with customers with bad attitudes who feel superior.
