Hotel was pretty shabby. Staff were eating behind reception (and getting most of it down them!!!) while checking us in - call me old fashioned, but I thought that was what break times were for. We spent 3 nights at the Golden Lion. We were very pleased with the cleanliness of our room, the hotel desk staff, and the maid service. We were with 3 other friends and they were also very happy with their accommodations. We were traveling by motorcycle and the hotel provided us with old towels to wipe off our riding gear.... more

After a wonderful cruise we checked into this place. The people at the front desk are very nice. However, the carpet in our room was absolutley filthy. We have stayed in a lot of Best Westerns and this hotel was absolutley the worst. We happened to hit Anchorage on the hottest day of the year. The A/C did not work.... more

Golden Lion is a reasonably priced hotel at Anchorage. Its a few miles from downtown so you definitely will need a car for transportation. Other than that, the rooms are large, has a frige and microwave, as well good amenities (restaurant and bar on site). If I am in the area again, I would stay here. more
