The Royal Sonesta in Cambridge is mostly a totally acceptable hotel. The location is very good, close to the Museum of Science and other places as well. Rooms are very nice, with great views. The hotel also has a restaurant that was reasonably priced and very good. The hotel also has an indoor pool that was very nice, and a gym which looks good as well. The hotel was not very expensive for the lowest end room. The only thing we didn’t think was very good was the service. When we got in, we were told that our reservation was different than that we had made on the Royal Sonesta website. The front desk people seemed a little clueless and weren’t very helpful. It did eventually get resolved the next day after talking with some other employees. Overall, I would recommend this hotel, as it is a great place to stay in Cambridge.

Hotel's Favourite
Stayed at this hotel for a few days both this August and last. We have children that love the city skyline so we booked the river view rooms both years, and honestly, the view can’t be beat, it’s amazing. Location is a 5 minute walk to the Museum of Science and Duck Boats. You can get to Boston Common or Quincy Market by foot or subway in about 25 minutes. My kids didn’t mind the walk at all as it’s mostly flat and shaded in most parts. Indoor pool is fun after a long day exploring. New for this year was one side of the pool is now open air to an outdoor sitting area, and we found it to be a pleasant addition for sure. We also had wonderful experiences with the front desk staff both times. Customer service here is just excellent. During our stay this year, our plans changed last minute and we needed to add an extra night on. The room we were staying in was promised as part of a room block so we had to change rooms for our extra night. Kaley at the desk went above and beyond to make the move seamless and ensure the room/view were to our satisfaction. The interaction with all the staff just really sets the tone for a positive stay/experience. We look forward to returning!

The best stay on the Charles River! We come to Boston monthly for business and have travelled extensively in all tiers of hotels around the world for both business and pleasure. Hands down, Royal Sonesta Boston has the best experience in Cambridge. From the warm welcome at check-in to the hard working staff that services the rooms. The modern furnishings of the hotel gives it a refreshing vibe and there is even a very convenient Starbucks on site to start your day. The sunset over the Charles river is mesmerizing, book a river view room, if at all possible and the higher the floor the better! As others have mentioned the hotel is very well located near MBTA stations and close to Cambridge Crossing office complex. Stay at Royal Sonesta for a relaxing and comfortable stay, you won't be disappointed. A special shoutout to the front desk team, especially Kerwin the most kind and helpful receptionist, who goes above and beyond with his attention to detail and genuine desire to ensure we have an exceptional stay and the night manager Kerlyne who sets a new standard for hospitality. Thank you Royal Sonesta Boston, can't wait to return!!

I cannot say enough great things about this hotel. The staff were so accommodating, quiet despite being downtown, Starbucks in the lobby, very centrally located. I travel a lot for work and this was the most comfortable bed and pillows ever

Hotel is in a great location, especially if you like to walk or run, as it is right on the pathway along the Charles River. Staff was super friendly and the hotel was very clean and well maintained. I have recommended the hotel to other people since I stayed there. If in the area again, I would definitely stay at the hotel.

The Royal Sonesta in Boston is nestled between downtown Boston and Cambridge, so its location is hard to beat, especially if your trip involves visiting both locations. However, there are several areas of opportunity. Housekeeping took a while to make the room. I had to request this three times in order to get it done. Wi-Fi was very deficient. I was in the West tower, third floor, and I never got decent signal. The lobby had decent signal, and I had to work there. The room itself looks rather old for the price I paid, I would expect a newer and nicer room for the same rate.

This is absolutely the worst stay I have ever had. I have been an international traveler for more than 15 years and never had I had to through what happened at this hotel. We booked a stay through Expedia and when we arrived, the extremely rude front desk employees told us there weren’t any room available for us and because we booked through Expedia they weren’t going to accommodate us. Because they never sent us notification that no room were available, it was too late for us to find another hotel. We ended up spending a night in a roller bed, the bed was probably not washed since it was dirty and had a horrible smell, not to mention the quality of the bed. No top of that, this hotel refused to apologize for their action. Don’t ever book a stay here, for someone in the hospitality business, they sure were doing a horrible job.

I expected A LOT MORE for a $500 per night “suite” ! The bathroom was just meh similar to what a regular motel offers with poor water pressure, the hallways are desperately in need of a facelift, the safe looked like it lost a fight with a spring-breaker, yet y’all have the gall to charge $5 for water? Your parking situation is a hot mess spaces sooooo tight that accidents happen which you take ZERO accountability for. No valet service, no 24 hr in-room dining, your only good food item that didn’t make us ill were tater tots, really!?

Absolutely frustrating experience. Ruined our day with multiple issues, including parking misguidance, no wifi connection in room, and outdated room reservation system. Profit blinded hotel that rents out monthly parking spots inside hotel externally while having shortage of spots for hotel guests. Had us park at a mall parking lot across a 4+ lane freeway with very confusing directions making us pay unnecessarily. Booked two rooms but gave us rooms at opposite building towers. Unhelpful front desk staff telling us each and everything is above their level and beyond their control. No efforts to resolve or help guests. Vacation and cost better spent elsewhere…
