I can only echo the other reports about abrupt and unwelcoming nature of the owner. He was arrogant and rude and should really not be let loose on paying customers. We met the owners son and daughter who were both most charming and should be running this hotel and let their parents concentrate on farming. The hotel is in a... more

We had 5 days of bliss here! Views, food and hospitality were unbeatable. Nigel sorted out walks for all who wanted to go, map and detailed itinerary were provided. There was no sense of the hosts being jaded as you might expect at the height of the season, they and all their staff were very friendly and helpful without being... more

I spent eight days as a sold traveler at the Hotel Posada del Valle - being the first visitor in their history to both stay 8 days without a car AND go on walks each day. The place is owned by a couple who are farmers and educators (in the truest sense of the word) first and innkeepers second (although... more

We stayed at this charming hotel after spending 8 nights in a 4* hotel on the coast near Santander. We booked with a slight touch of apprehension as we are not that much into organic food and are not great walkers - we worried that we might be preached at or try to be converted. We need not have worried,... more

This hotel is a gem. It's a largely English speaking watering hole but nevertheles does have a Spanish ambiance.. Do not be put off by the reference to Fawlty Towers in another review. This is a very well run, friendly & informal hotel & the owners, Nigel & Joann, are very concerned that guests get the best from their holiday.... more

Great hotel nestled in the foothills of the Picos de Europa. Part organic farm, part hotel, it a fantastic base if you want to go exploring the mountain area and walking. Nigel and Joann run both the hotel and farm, and it really is quite impressive. They grow all the vegetables for the hotel kitchen on the farm, and everything... more

This hotel is in a fantastic location with great views - a perfect place to relax. Having stayed before in the old part of the hotel we were a bit dissapointed with the newer part and our room. I agree with the earlier comments about the new rooms - they completely lack any character. The food was wonerfull and Jo... more

We stayed in for two nights as part of a tour of Northern Spain. The hotel was in the most beautiful location and the rooms had fabulous views across the valley to the mountains. The food was fantastic and very good value and although our room was a little on the dark side (probably not helped by being painted dark... more

This hotel is in a very picturesque setting, miles away from civilisation! As it is frequented by many people on 'walking' holidays, there is a feeling of being under an obligation to do exactly that - walk! Food, cooked by the owner Joann, is home grown and very wholesome, but be careful if you have a nut allergy! There is... more

This inn is a fabulous place for an Asturian vacation. We booked three rooms here for my family and they were all very comfortable and spacious. The inn is so peaceful and quiet, and overlooks a beautiful little valley. It is very well maintained, and charmingly decorated. The food was scrumptious - both breakfast and dinner. Meals are based on... more
