This bed and breakfast is situated in the heart of Portscatho, an absolutely beautiful Cornish seaside village. It is just a short walk to the beach and two wonderful pubs are within reasonable walking distance. The rooms are clean and neat. Breakfast was nice - however the absence of the opportunity for a cooked breakfast means 4 stars instead of... More

Whilst this B&B was modern, comfy and in a lovely quiet sea side location, I find it hard to give it more than a score of 3. It didn't have the usual, personal feel & soul that good B&Bs have (in fact, I believe it is managed on behalf of absentee owners). The room was trying to be minimalist chic... More

Booked this accommodation on basis of Trip Advisor recommendations. This is the first time in several years that I have found myself in major disagreement with fellow reviewers. I believe it is seriously overpriced for what is on offer and does not merit the 4 diamonds from AA. Yes Jackie is a wonderful hostess and yes considerable money has been... More

Hillside House is in a fabulous location; a tiny tucked away fishing village with a couple of pubs and endless coastal walks and gardens nearby to occupy you. The house is beautifully decorated (no chinz!) with a lovely front courtyard for warm evenings and a glass of wine, and the bedroom we had was large and airy . The breakfasts... More

We were only able to stay one night, but would have enjoyed a week in this delightful B&B. Hoping to go back again sometime

Delightful comfortable bed and breakfast in the heart of Portscatho. Small beach within two minutes walk by the small harbour. Accomodation is stylish with good bathrooms. Courtyard/garden with tables and chairs for guests. Immediately opposite the Plume of Feathers Pub, excellent meals. The walking along the coastal footpath is superb as are the local beaches, our favourite is Porthbeor. Short... More

A delightful part of the UK. Portscatho and Hillside House are unforgettable. Jackie was the perfect host - terrific knowledge of the area and great tips on what to see and do. Perfect place to base oneself for sightseeing - great to return to after a long day out at Lizard Point, Truro, St Austell, St Ives, etc. (This should... More

We recently stayed at a BB in the lovely village of Portscatho in Cornwall. The BB is called Hillside house and is a lovely big house bright pink! The village itself is great with all you need: great pubs (our favs The Standard and the Boat club), a shop, beach, lovely walks...The BB itself is very comfortable, really well decorated... More

well, what a lovely place to stay! really nicely decorated and simple but stylish bathroom stuff, which makes a change, as does the welcome from Jackie: very laid-back and discreet, yet very keen and eager to please, in a nice way - a real change. great spot, and we did loads of great walks and enjoyed the pub and club... The bedroom and en suite shower room were beautifully decorated and an absolute delight to stay in. The bed was so comfortable it was actually better than being at home! The whole cornish village experience (in which Hillside House is ideally situated)is one we will definitely be repeating.
