I live about 25 minutes away but I saw this campground a year ago while riding the 1880 train. It struck me as a very pretty campground with a gorgeous, empty pool. I love to swim but don't like to deal with a lot of kids. I stayed here this last weekend. I got the 1 bed cabin right across... More

Very friendly, cabins are great for a family, and close to Mt Rushmore! Kids loved the heated pool and the train that went by. It was nice to have a kitchen. Not fancy, but very practical! The owner offered to call for us to see what time the light show started Memorial Day weekend.

Stayed one night, the manager was fine, I saw complaints about him, I disagree, maybe quiet, but not unfriendly, he told us about the nightly show at Mt. Rushmore, and gave us other good advice, and answered every question. We were tent camping, and the road was quiet, the rate was reasonable, and the location close to many Black Hills... More

Kemps Kamp is a nice location for all the SD sites. We stayed there for four nights in a cabin and was very disappointed in everything except the location. The owner is rude and totally unaccomodating. If you are going to pay to stay in a cabin and are expecting the normal things like a coffee pot or say a... More

If you are camping here be prepared to bat off the bees...yellow jackets...they were everywhere. Got stung by one, heel of my foot. We had a nice site facing the road and train tracks. Lots of traffic during the day, nights were quite. Had a handful of cable stations. The bath houses were old but clean. Great location for Mt... More

Spent one night here on our cross country trip. I called repeatedly to make sure we'd have a sight and the manager was very insistent that we be checked in before 8:30 so not to disturb the guests. We raced from Yellowstone to the camp and made it by 8:10 the checkin was very smooth and we had free choice... More

When I checked in, the process was quick and easy. I am tent camping and the sites are moderately sized but big enough. When I got up one morning, a flock of about twelve wild turkeys was 100 feet from my tent :) The pool temp is great, the owner is trusting (if you need ice and the office is... More

Stayed in late July 2012. Had back in RV site off the road. The campground was quiet and clean. The ladies room was basic and clean. The men's room wasn't so great...he said it could have been cleaner but it was adequate. There was no hand soap provided in the bathrooms so bring your own. If you're looking for a... More

Like several other reviewers my problem is not with the camp or the location or the bathrooms. It is with the rude manager. The only thing he cares about is getting your money it is clear just by the cancellation policy. He was rude and unplesaent the entire time. I am a local to the area and he lost my... More

We camped here for one night in the tent camping area. There are quite a few tent sites that are right a long the road which we did not want. But, those sites have a covered picnic area which is an advantage. Our site was back a bit in from the road and was wooded. The area had quiet campers... More
