The negative reviews must have been written before the ownership changed hands, as it's been upgraded and looks great! Much improved and a nice, cozy place to stay that's within walking distance to everything in Keystone! more

When we arrived at the battle creek to check in, there was nobody at the desk, inside or outside, we could not find anybody, we waited for 30 mins and no one came. We then decided to drive across the street to the holiday inn express. the girl there was extremely helpful and tried to call the battle creek and... more

It's not the Ritz but ho needs that snooty, overpriced, silliness when you can get such personal, enthusiastic, considerate, generous service and attention from one of the only locally owned and run hotels in all of Keystone? I look forward to coming back and seeing my new friends at this place. If you're looking for genuine, clean, convenient, and fun,... more

We were pleased with a clean, reasonably-priced place to stay right in Keystone (but off the main drag). The new manager seemed very eager to reverse the inn's prior bad reputation. This small, rustic inn was great for our family! more

I really enjoyed my stay at the Battle Creek Lodge. The lady who runs the place is a very pleasant person, she helped us plan the best spots in the region to visit, and she knew what she was talking about. The rooms were clean, and we were served biscuits and gravy for breakfast. more

The person who wrote the remarks a few years ago was really right on. It was operated poorly by the former owner. Stop and inspect the lobby and inspect a mroom. You will be pleasantly surprised. It is ver neat and nice. more

While staying in The Hills, I came across the Battle Creek Lodge and thought that I'd give it a try. Boy what a mistake. I should have known that something was wrong when the person who booked me in was intoxicated at 1:30 in the afternoon. They don't take credit cards and perfer cash only. There was junk all over... more

After reading many reviews for various properties in Keystone and reading the review from Sept '05 I decided to give this property a try. I booked 3 nights during the 2nd week of June. My first clue should have been the guy taking the reservation did not even know if he had availabilty or the cost. Had to call me... more

While visiting the Black Hills of South Dakota, there are many fine places to stay, and while exhaustively searching various websites, I sent e-mails inquiring about accommodations. I received a very friendly and informative e-mail back from Jim Johnson, owner & operator of the Battle Creek Lodge in Keystone (gateway to Mount Rushmore). I was so impressed with Jim's willingness... more
