We stayed in the Briars as a part of a wedding party. I must say I was expecting a typical Bed and Breakfast type experience, but the unique and rich history of this house, it's beautiful grounds and the incredible unlimited access to the main house made this a truly unexpected get away. Although only there for the weekend, I... more

This was the second time staying at The Briars. First time was 15 years ago. Still a great experience. The grounds are beautiful. The rooms inside the home are great. We had the run of the house at night. The owners live off the property. We sat quietly for hours in the room where Jefferson Davis married Varina Howell. The... more

I had the previledge of staying for four days at the Briars. The escape from the everyday husstle and bustle was most refreshing. The first night there I stayed in the main house, and the room was fantastic. Clean and well taken care of. The second thru the fourth night I stayed in the "old school house". The furnishings are... more

We stayed in the cottage that is near the veranda and has a riverview. The cost was $160 a night and worth every penny. This was one of the wonderful experiences we've ever had. The staff was very helpful, the room was immaculate and quite cozy and comfortable. The grounds are incredibly lovely. (The swimming pool is in need of... more

We spent one night at Dunleith and one at the Briars and found the Briars to be very nice. Unlike Dunleith, we had the unlimited access to the main house at the Briars. Our room was in the main house and was nicely decorated. The staff was very friendly and the view from the the bluff overlooking the river was... more

Out of town location near Visitors Centre, The Briars claim to fame is that Jefferson Davis got married there. Beautiful Gardens and Room rate included nice traditional Southern Breakfast. more

When you stay here, you are staying in the home that Jefferson Davis was married in. Just the historical value of being able to stay at the Briars makes it exceptional. We stayed in the room above the kitchen (which is not in the main house) and were very happy. The view of the river was breath-taking. The room was... more

The Briars is in need of a little TLC. We stayed here for one night, our room was huge and very clean, the staff couldnt have been more helpful, so all in all quite good. The breakfast was also lovely and the house very beautiful, However The Briars is looking a little tired and in need of a good decorate/tidy... more

We stayed at the Briars 2 years ago. The first night was in the main house. Our room was dark, dingy, not comfortable, and the bathroom wasn't very nice. The 2nd. night, though not in the main house was in a large comfy room over the kitchen, this was much better. We probably will not stay at the Briars again.... more
