Do you want to relive the grand, tasteful, elloquent surroundings of Scarlett O'Hara's pre-Civil War Southern America? You absolutely still can at Monmouth Plantation in Natchez, Mississippi! I managed a luxury resort & gourmet restaurant for several years before becoming a history educator and am generally a very critical guest, but Monmouth stands leagues above any other experience. I have... more

I just spent a little over a week at Monmouth Plantation and would feel selfish if I didn’t share with you the wonderful experiences I encountered. I was warmly welcomed by the Southern hospitality of Monmouth’s staff, always asking if they could help with one thing or another. I took the tour of Monmouth upon my arrival, and not only... more

We spent one night in the mansion and our second night at Quitman's Retreat and thoroughly enjoyed both. The staff was wonderful! We told them at check-in that MS was my husband's 50th state to visit, they sent up a complementary bottle of champagne. The food was great at dinner; we ate at the chef's table with about eight others.... more

My girlfriend and I have been traveling around the world. We decided it was time to see parts of the USA. We chose going south. First to New Orleans, then on to Natchez Mississippi. Then we flew to Charleston, South Carolina, drove down to Savannah, Georgia, then to Jekyll Island Georgia and then home to Los Angeles. Our best spot... more

My husband brought me to Monmouth for a surprise get-away weekend! We arrived later than expected and were very hungry. So, we called the Monmouth a la carte restaurant, "1818," to see if dinner was still being served. The upscale restaurant was about to close, but elected to stay open JUST for us! The service was fabulous and very accommodating!... more

My wife and I spent our anniversary weekend (41 years) at Monmouth Plantation on August 8 & 9, 2009 and could not have been happier. Everyone associated with the Plantation was pleasant, courteous and very helpful. The suite we stayed in was beautiful and very comfortable. We had a bedroom, sitting room and a large bathroom with a spa tub.... more

Arrived without any info on a business trip outing set up through the office. Really enjoyed it. Room, dinner, grounds, and lounge were all great. Wish I had been there on a leisure trip with my wife. Will try to make that happen in the future. Highly recommend this B&B. It is majestic and beautiful yet extremely comfortable. more

From the moment we arrived, we felt like we had gone back in time, but with all the modern conveniences. The Plantation is exquisitely decorated, and the grounds are truly amazing. It is so well manicured, and preserved that you feel like royalty staying there. They pay attention to details, like the turn down service at night, which includes a... more
