First the good. Bed and towels were clean and Angus was very friendly! Did like the two different pillows as well! Interesting decor on the main floor gave it some charm, and the fireplace burning was nice! Sadly the bad will not let us recommend this place . No coffee ready until 8 am. Went downstairs to make our own... More

Nestled in the hills beside a bubbling river/creek Port Albert Inn is reminiscent of an era long past. Mimicking Smokey Mountain flavour coupled with authentic Canadian hospitality you will feel like you have travelled far and not have spent the energy or the funding travelling or the passport to get there. Across from the Inn, you will find the General... More

I found this Inn on Trip Advisor and I have to say that everyone was so honest with their reviews. Most recently there for 2 nights and 3 days with my cousins from California and Colorado. We left asking "should we have stayed longer?" Extremely clean, great wide plank hard wood floors. Beds and linens amazing - both types of... More

What a gem this place is! We went there for a quiet getaway and were very pleased. The room was so comfortable and beautifully appointed! Breakfast in the morning was absolutely delicious! You will not be disappointed to stay here.

We went for a motorcycle weekend with some close friends. I picked the Port Albert Inn and all I can say is we are re-booking it for next year. Mark is a very nice man that cooked and looked after us. He was the only one there, so cooked the supper and breakfast in shifts. We didn't mind at all,... More

Port Albert Inn has become our "home away from home" for vacationing. We stay there while we attend the Celtic Festival in Goderich. Mark is a wonderful host with a diverse history of the area. We appreciated the knowledge he shared in helping us locate the homestead of ancestors. It's great listening to his stories of the area. This year... More

This small and old inn in Port Albert is somewhat of a hidden treasure. It's located just off the shores of Lake Huron. The town in very small and works perfectly as a get away from busy society, but is still close enough to larger towns for a quick bite at Tim Hortons. From booking to checking out, the entire... We stayed for one night but would have liked to have stayed longer. The place is interesting, friendly staff (family run I believe), and very relaxed. It took us a little bit to unwind from the drive and settle into the laid back pace, but once we did it was fantastic. There's a cute convenience store across the street that... More

Port Albert, and the Inn at the Port itself , is like stepping into a very quiet, untravelled and uncomplicated part of the country. Just what was needed for a quick holiday away from our busy lives. The Inn is wonderful. Exactly what a traditional type of Inn should be. Lots of lovely woodwork, old fashioned and REAL tin ceilings,... More
