Nearly everything about this hotel is acceptable ( for a Cuban hotel) except for the noise and the food. Looking at other reviews the noise which filled our room may have been due to a generator, but we thought it was due to AC units opposite all the rooms. Anyway it was almost impossible to sleep, even when the noise... more

I stayed with a group a few years ago. During dinner i was casuarly told that my russian A/C had caught fire but that everything was fine. I was a disaster but the management did the best they could to clean my stuff. Not a lot ws really burnt so i consider myself lucky It could hardly have happended during... more

We stayed here for 1 night as part of the 'Highlights of Cuba' tour. The hotel was very quiet, cool and clean with a speedy check-in. The rooms were clean and comfortable with wonderful views. We enjoyed the pool after very hot day sight-seeing in Cienfuegos. Nearby you can walk to a sculpture park and in the other direction you... more

Stayed in Cienfuegos for one night as part of the 'Highlights of Cuba' tour with First Choice. The hotel doesn't really fit in to it's surroundings, but it's height means you get beautiful views over the bay. Rooms were clean and comfortable if a little stuck in the 70's. Shower was large, no bath but i never use one on... more

Stayed at the Jagua as part of a group tour in Cuba. The check-in process for our tour group was quick and efficient. The hotel was very clean and fresh both inside and out. The grounds were nicely maintained; the pool and pool area was clean. The rooms were modern and well maintained - the bathroom was also in very... more

Stayed 2 nights, had problems with the electricity and the hotel's generator was close to my room which was a bit noisy, and along with the evening show on the first night, an early night was not on the cards.!! I had no plug in the sink in the bathroom. No Tea/coffe facilities in the rooms. Water was tepid and... more

As others have said, the external appearance of this hotel is a '60s tower block, but inside both the public areas and the rooms it is more typical Cuban. The rooms are a reasonable size and have excellent views. As so often in Cuba water temperature was a problem, and for a few hours we did not have water at... more

mmmm. wouldnt stay here again. The hotel itself is like a throw back to the old hotels of the 70's and reminiscent of a 60's council block. We were also ripped off with a phone call (3 mins) to the UK - reception insisted that it cost 35 quid... we argued but they printed a very suspicious looking print out... more

We tried to reserve the La Union hotel in downtown Cienfuegos but we couldn’t get a reservation. Although the Jagua has mixed reviews, we decided to stay there. The building itself looks very seventies from the outside. The lobby is nice, the rooms are very simple but clean. We didn’t like the beds because the mattresses were really bad. The... more

Another ugly Cuban hotel better on the inside than out! To comment on other people's opinions. As a group we only stayed one night but had no problems with security etc. The restaurant was very busy, and some people with us didn't get a table until 9.00 p.m so be there early. It's well worth visiting "next door". The building... more
