We spent one night in Mindo at Cecilia's. The rooms are good, but don't contain more than a bed or two, which is enough for a night, though. We had a room on the ground floor, so it was really humid. I guess upstairs, the rooms are better. The staff is nice and helps you with booking tours or deciding... More

La Casa de Cecilia was one of my favorite hostels in Ecuador. The location was perfect, right next to a softly babbling river, and the price was great too. I payed $6 per night for a tiny single bed "open air" room that I loved. The open air part meant that there was an open wall, letting in the sounds... More

We had a lovely stay at Cecilia, although very basic. The rooms were sufficient, and we had to move halfway through our stay. All rooms come with mozzie nets. Breakfast is served for $2.50. We didn't have much problems with noise, but the walls are thin as paper. - yesmads.com

We had such a great time here! The hostel was all booked up, but they had just built a new cabin that she offered to us to stay in. It didn't have running water/bathrooms yet, but it was so close to the main building it really wasn't a problem. It wasn't completely sealed though (gaps between the windows and the... More

I've stayed here twice now. Both times were very pleasant. The atmosphere of this place is great. The sound of the stream next to the hotel is nice to sleep to. We paid $8 per person per night. The woman at the front desk (Paula, I think) was very helpful and accommodating. She will help you arrange any activity you... More

So after reading the reviews on here, I was a little worried about what was waiting when my group of 5 (3 guys, 2 girls) arrived. But I was extremely pleased at what I saw. Although I have only stayed in about 10 hostels, this one was definitely one of the best. Great location, about a two minute walk to... More

Terrible experience. No WIFI...said it was the network although hostel up the street worked fine. No electical outlet in room. Walls are just boards so the folks playing Monopoly outside til 1 a.m. kept me awake. Hot water stopped after two minutes. One of the worst places I've stayed at in three years of backpacking.

I asked around and heard many good things about this hostel. The owners were really nice and I still can't understand why they did what they did without leaving a note or talking to me. I came home one day late after a forest walk, totally wet, cold and starving and got to the hostel to find all doors locked,... More

This is a lovely clean hostel with comfortable beds and showers that really work! They have wellington boots available for guests for the long hikes as it rains a lot in Mindo. You can breakfast watching the hummingbirds and listening to th river rushing past. The web site prices are wrong but it is still great value for money at... More

We arrived late in the day so they put us in two singles instead of a double. Staff are friendly and the whole place feels like a treehouse! semi-enclosed with open air instead of walls in many rooms and shared spaces, including the bathroom, hammocks and plants everywhere. The house is on a lovely small creek, two blocks from the... More
