Visited from Sydney Australia, for a Scuba Holiday. We had a 10 day stay on Nusa Island. Only a few minutes pass for the trip across the crystal clear tranquil lagoon on the resorts bannana boats from Kavieng to our new island home. Its a pitcuresque trip to say the least. The accomodation consists of traditional bungalow style huts to up market over the water positions. The huts are made from local materials with thatched roof. They have electricity , 2 beds with fan and mosquito netting, they all have a verandahs to sit and enjoy the peacefull surrounds after an ale or two at the bar.
These were well maintained , cleaned, beds made etc etc , fresh flowers on your bed in the bungalow by the super friendly resort staff.
Toilet and shower facilities are very basic, cold water only, but with temperatures as they have its very bearable, morning or night.
The staff clean the resort area by rake, pick up loose items, depends on the trees folliage falling off, they even...

Nusa Island is a prefect combination of Trader
Vic and Surfer Joe. It was just the right blend of comfort and tropical style. The food was the best I found in PNG, including some swish places twice as expensive. Sean the owner is mellow and connected to the locals, He is a superb amateur anthroplogist and has a remarkable collection of New Ireland masks and carvings. The accomodations are woven huts, raised up to get the breeze, with flowers and nice touches around. In fact the the entire place feels like a botanical garden. In all places the surf is unpredictable, but I scored excellent waves almost every day. But no guarantees here. However non surfers will like it just as much for the ambiance and the diving. Sorry no pictures as my computer crashed just after the trip. But this was the only place I have ever stayed that was better than the web site. By the way I am in no way connected to the site or the owner, i just like to encourage a good thing done right.
