Hey, this place is great! Close to town and close to my heart! I enjoyed my stay both time, a year apart. I found the rooms to be clean and ready when I arrived. The owners are peaceful and are apt to chat or provide information regarding mountaineering and backpacking. I like that they let people come and go as... More

Disorganzed, smelly, dirty, and poor service. You're just as well off at a bus shelter..

This hostel is simple, clean and refreshing. The owners impressed me with their recycling commitment, bicycle rentals and small farmyard (chickens and ducks) in a suburban town. The Olympic mountains above and Port Angeles bay below, I couldn't have been happier sitting outside soaking it all up! Sheets and bedding are supplied when you check in and there is a... More

I took a large group to stay in Thor Town while we did day trips around the area over 3 days. This was a university field trip, and we would not have been able to go if we hadn't found such a great rate for lodging. We took every available bed while we were there. It was wonderful that there... More

This is a miserable place. I have seen better run hostels, in the third world; or the hostel movies. The owner, a smug German. Basicly, laughed off all complaints. The private room, smelled like, urine and BO. The only things that were ok; were the rate, ($35), and the location, near the hospital. The kitchen and fridge, were caked with... More

Please let me first clarify - I'm a young, well traveled adult. I've lived out of a rucksack for months, my passport is well stamped and I am leery of negative reviews...I think to myself - it can't really be that bad, the people that right negative reviews are just snobs...not the case here. This hostel is not a hostel... More

This place is horrible. My wife and I had planned a trip into the Olympics and planned to stay one night at Thor Town. My advise is stay anyplace in Port Angles but here. I had made the reservations on their website, which they lost and and even though they had sent me a confirmation they seemed surprised we were... More

This hostel appeared to at one time be very loved, but it seems as though the owners have lost interest in the business. They were completely absent for all but a few minutes of my two night stay. Luckily, they had left a note as to which room I should stay in. Many others with reservations came and went because... More

Our family had a wonderful time in Port Angeles, Washington. Cresent Lake is a great place for a swimming and a picnic. And not to far to travel from Port Angeles. Most rivers and lakes, creeks we traveled took only 1/2 hour to 45 minutes to get there from Port Angeles. I can't wait to visit again! Janie

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Thor Town International Hostel is an independent, family owned lodging business in Port Angeles, WA. We welcome you to consider our hostel as a base for your explorations of the Olympic Peninsula and Olympic National Park or simply as an inexpensive place to spend the night if you are in Port Angeles to board the Coho Ferry to Victoria and Vancouver Island in British Columbia. We have two private rooms and 2 dorm rooms available. We started our hostel in 2000 in a 100 year old house that was showing its age. Over the years, we have renovated the structure from the bottom to the top. Major improvements to the structure include foundation repair and leveling the building, replacement of all the windows, the addition of a front porch and a steel roof. Inside, we have completely rewired the structure and have added a new complete hostel kitchen and 1 ½ bathrooms. Accommodating a small budget and an ultra-green building ethic, most of the remodeling work was done by us using salvaged and reclaimed materials. ... more   less
