We were delighted with our stay at Casita Chamisa. My husband and two little girls stayed in the guest house with my six and eight year old nieces leaving my brothers in law and respective partners in the spacious guest house rooms. The girls shared the twin beds and one slept in the attached greenhouse. The children loved checking for... more

Arnold is nice. We enjoyed the indoor heated pool. The hot tub is turned on by flipping a bunch of valves and levers. Everything is rather rustic. It's hard to believe he built the place by hand without much help. The place was clean, quiet, and breakfast was oven-baked french toast with jam and nuts on top. We will be... more

My wife and I first visited Arnold two years ago in January and we are returning in February. A most enjoyable visit. Arnold is a talker but, you know what? Listen and you may learn something about this locality. That is the point of traveling. And at Casita Chamisa you are literally sitting on history that dates back thousands of... more

This place is like a little Eden in the desert, and Arnold is its quirky presiding angel. The main house is a wonderful rambling old adobe estancia, which Arnold learned classical adobe techniques to add onto. If you can, choose a room in the main house -- they feel quite private, garden access is easy from all, all have those... more

We really enjoyed staying here. The location was peaceful and very pretty. The guest house worked very well for a family of four since everyone had their own room (our son was comfortable on the porch). Our daughter enjoyed the pool and met a neighbor to swim with there. Arnold was gracious and the food was excellent. Please ignore the... more

Gosh, I'm a little perplexed by the negative reviews. It's always important to figure out if it's your kind of B&B. We are B&B'ers. I've stayed in B&Bs in California, Colorado, Texas and New Mexico. Casita Chamisa is, to date, #1 on our list. Casita Chamisa is a B&B in the European sense - it's authentic. It's real adobe (not... more

I am an Albuquerque resident. I booked an overnight stay at Casita Chamisa after seeing some pictures on their website. The pictures made the place look gorgeous. I and three girlfriends wanted to have an overnight retreat before a spa day the next day and were looking for a place where we could make dinner and spend some quality time... more

It isn't often that you get to stay in such a charming, historic home. Not only is the house a historic ranch house, but it is built on top of a pre-historic site. The owners are fascinating. She's an archaeologist and the house is crammed with treasures from their travels. Ask Arnold about the history of the sour dough in... more

We loved the guest house. It is dark but has its own charm. The location in the valley is wonderful. Lots of tall cottonwood trees a rushing stream which is a canal from the Rio Grande. Our grandchildren loved the location and the pool. The host is gracious and welcoming but not overbearing or omnipresent. more

I checked out their website and the pictures and description looked nice. When we got there it was a different story. The 2 bedroom guesthouse looked like it is a converted garage, it was dark, the livingroom was very small, and the grounds had a lot of junk laying around. I'm not sure where the pictures are from on their... more
