I've visited tons of Bed 'n Breakfasts around the world, and never have I experienced one as wonderful and welcoming as The Dragonfly. From the moment I drove into the driveway -- exhausted from my early morning flight over to the island -- Barbara's staff took care of me. Barbara’s team (ohana) truly cares and goes far above and beyond... more

My wife and I have been to the Dragonfly twice now, and both times have been very satisfied with our stay. Both times we have stayed in the Writer's Studio, which is a very large spacious room with a kitchen area and a stand-up shower with a lava rock floor. The Dragonfly is unique, in that your stay has a... more

My husband and I stayed at the Dragonfly Ranch last week during a birthday trip to Hawaii. We were prepared for mostly outdoor living, because it is like staying in a tree house with screens and the wonders of nature in full view. The room featured a large comfortable king-sized bed and a bamboo-framed "tub for two" along with a... more

Just spent three nights at the Dragonfly. Very spacious room, with screens on three sides so it felt like we were sleeping outside. Outside shower is a delight. Breakfast was something different and interesting every day, and the chef, Phoenix, made an excellent dinner one evening, which we enjoyed in the lanai overlooking the ocean and were treated to a... more

Kona’s Healing Oasis I stayed in the Dragonfly Room that has a lovely deck under a huge monkeypod tree. The outdoor shower is a total delight, with rainbows in the sunshine while bathing. I loved being introduced to having quinoa and amaranth for breakfast. The best part of my stay was when Barbara helped me swim out in the bay... more

This place is run with genuine spirit. I recommend that the place be deeply cleansed everyday and that the shrubbery be trimmed, and the stone stairway be fixed. It has potential to be the garden of eden. My fiance and I went there with high hopes since I loved the pictures on website and the idea of an organic breakfast.... more

Management response from

Yikes! When I returned from my morning exercise class and learned what happened with these lovely folks, I was totally shocked. Never in 35 years of being here at the Dragonfly have I ever heard of anyone having a cockroach in their bed. I still wonder how this could have happened. Could the cockroaches have been invading hitchhikers in their...

I loved the ranch. They have very unusual accomodations. My room was mainly a screened room. It was elegantly decorated with a very comfortable bed. A large bath tub sat out in the room with curtains to draw for privacy. There was a commode closet and mirrored doors that could close off part of the screen wall. There were tiny... more
