I stayed in cabin #10 for several nights.

Positive: Staff/owners were nice the few times I interacted with them. The cabin was fairly clean and reasonably equipped, though no microwave. Beds ok. Outside of town, but right on the highway and convenient to town and National Park. I spent all day hiking, so this was just a place to spend the evening and night, adequate in that regard.

Negative: I was disappointed in the place. It is rather rundown and cramped, with creaky floors and thin doors, so somewhat noisy. Some of the furniture was like yard-sale rejects; the chair in my room was caving in. Single-pane windows are drafty and let in lots of traffic noise, though the traffic died down at night. There is a tiny lawn area by the creek, nice, but with rotting, splintery wooden lawn furniture. Zero to one bars for cell-phone reception. Owner keeps the lid of the dumpster pinned down with a backhoe bucket, so you can't conveniently throw out your trash as it...

We just stayed at one of Blackhawk Lodges ten log cabins and it was wonderful. We didn't come to the Rockies to stay in the same type of motel chain you find in Every Town, USA...we came for a "mountain" experience...and Blackhawk gives you that.
Located right on the river, the resort has ten real log cabins and they are incredible. They have cable TV, wood burning fireplaces, and waking up in the morning to the smell of the knotty pine interiors and the fresh mountain air was amazing.
Because they only have ten cabins, it is sometimes tough to get a reservation, so plan ahead. Located on two miles from the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, and a mile or so from town, the location couldn't be better.
With great fishing right at the resort, a riverside hot tub and picnic area, the grounds couldn't be nicer. So, do yourself a favor and check this spot out.
