The staff is very friendly and helpful. The oatmeal breakfast is the best. The rooms are clean and well appointed. It’s a funky place, kind of a retro 50’s. There is a free beverage when you check in. The night we were there there were 13 musicians playing Irish music. They were very entertaining.

No value here. It’s a pig (a MOTEL) with a lipstick (renovated and accompanied with a lot of fun fare) but it still a pig, and pricy one at that. Very small room - sink outside the small bathroom with a smelly shower curtain. No coffee machine - not in the room nor in public area. Breakfast is a joke, even if you like porridge like me, it’s just… porridge with some extra choices of topping but in the end, it is not a satisfying breakfast and hard to eat with the cheap, flimsy plastic spoon provided. The fresh fruits are some apples - that’s it.

This art motel is part of the trend of renovated, hip motels. I got a deal on agoda.com. This is a good spot if you are hiking all day. Location: It’s very close to the highway, 10 minutes from downtown, and 30 minutes from Saguaro National Park West. But it’s in an industrial zone, so there is no place to walk if you don’t have a car. Aesthetic: There is cute and inspirational art everywhere. Very instagrammy. Cleanliness: The low flush toilets were kind of gross if you have a big poop. They don’t do housekeeping everyday. So one night I ran out of toilet paper at 4:30am and had to walk to the desk to get some. They don’t have enough staff to send you toilet paper. The motel felt safe, but still - as a woman at night, who knows? Breakfast: Oatmeal bar, if you like oatmeal, they have a lot of toppings and selection. There are a lot of breakfast spots that serve eggs, or even vegan, in 10-min driving distance. I went to Chaiteria towards Saguaro National Park. Remote Work: Many people were working remotely in the lobby, but the WiFi didn’t work in my room. So I had to attach it to my phone, and one zoom call ended up using all my phone data for the month. That was really bad. Laundry $3 in quarters for washer and $3 for dryer. There is a small gym. Good use of small spaces. Small pool, pinball room, and bar with great local beer. Lots of parking. Nice staff.

My son and I stayed at Hotel McCoy. The service was excellent; everyone on the staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The Hotel has a fun 60s theme. The furnishings and decor carry through the theme. They have a nice oatmeal bar for breakfast with oatmeal and mix ins. They also have fruit, tea, and coffee. There is a nice heated pool and a gym area. I can recommend Hotel McCoy.

This hotel is probably one of the most unique stays you’ll find. Art everywhere, random vending machines that could also be considered art. And just unique all around. The staff was incredibly friendly, and genuinely helpful upon check-in. The gentleman who checked us in, was so friendly, and had a great recommendations for things to do around town. It was pretty late when we checked in so we unfortunately didn’t get to do any of those things that night. He put us in “the rainbow room” and when we opened the door, it was just filled with vibrant colors, and many are pieces for sale with beautiful rainbows. He did give us two drink tokens so we decided to check out the bar. We went in, and we’re immediately met by the bartender, who was just so incredibly sweet. We wanted to try something different and she recommended us a peanut butter and jelly mead, which was honestly pretty good. She kept checking in on us, and making light conversation while also taking care of other guests. When we were done, we decided to walk around and explore a little and check out all the other artwork around. When we finally decided to head back to our room for the night, we decided to watch some TV, which the hotel offers a Roku so you’re able to watch any streaming service or show you want. The bed was pretty comfortable and in spite of it’s unique and fun environment the night was pretty quiet and we were able to have a good night’s rest. This is honestly one of the most coolest stays we have had and we will definitely recommend it to her friends and family who have to stop in Tucson for the night.

This is a renovated 1960s freeway motel which has been given lots of fresh paint and a funky, whimsical theme. The young staff are cheerful and positive. Nothing seems to have been done to upgrade the rooms to the latest standards. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable, but it had insufficient lighting, no closet, and only a small desk on which to lay out my stuff. The friendly check-in clerk surprised me with two tokens good for a drink at their wine and beer bar. It turns out they were good for only one local wine label. The “Cabernet Sauvignon” was one of the worst wines I have ever tasted. When I switched to their “Chardonnay,” I found that it was only slightly better, but was not a Chardonnay at all! Tasted more like a cheap Chablis. The next night I used my remaining token for a beer and, yup, it was good for only one kind, a horrible tasting wheat beer! They serve a breakfast: oatmeal and coffee. If you want to experience the 1960s again, this might be the hotel for you. For me, it was greatly overpriced for the value received.

I wanted to like this place, as the description indicated it is a funky little hotel. Despite fresh paint and fun artwork, it is NOT A HOTEL at all. It is an old motel in a very noisy location, and while tidy it wasn’t very clean. Wear shoes in your room, or you feet/socks will be black in no time.

Stayed here for two nights while visiting Saguaro National Park. Kitschy old motel that has been rennovated to bring an artsy, old time southwestern vibe. There are certainly some very good amenities that make it worth a stay: 1) beer and wine bar with friendly servers, 2) great food truck to get a good dinner (limited menu, so probably only eat one night there), 3) free coffee and large oatmeal bar for breakfast, 4) onsite laundry, 5) water bottle filling station, 6) swimming pool and fun social area with foosball, cornhole, firepit and outdoor seating (we didn't use, it was cold, but it looked great). Also, this is right off the interstate, so quick to get to where you want to go. Price was very good. The things we didn't like - room just felt a bit dirty, especially the floor; the wi-fit didn't work and when we told the front desk, they just said "yeah, another room complained about that." (No, let us see what we can do to fix it.) There was no place to really hang your clothes or put them out - no dresser, no nightstand (one small on one side), no closet. We had to put 1 suitcase on the desk and one on a small bench so we could access our stuff. The frontdesk ran out of quarters for the laundry. Luckily we were able to get enough to do the load we needed to do. Overall, I might stay here again, it's fun and different and worked for us since we were out and about a lot. You just need to know what you're getting.

This is a best kept secret in Tucson. First let me mention the most important thing. All of the staff that I met were super nice and very friendly. If you are staying here you are embracing the retro experience. It is a blast from my past as I stayed in a bunch of this style of motel back in the 60s. The room was small and sparse but clean as a whistle. It had a very large screen TV, nice amenities and an air conditioner that did what I told it to do. (You know how rare that is.) The bed was very comfortable. My room had a red mini-refrigerator. In the lobby is a small bar that is open late. You get a free drink at check in. It features local craft beer among other things. There is a dining room that actually has a pinball machine. How cool is that? Breakfast is included and I had the oatmeal bar. If you haven't put cinnamon chips on your oatmeal you are in for a treat. The coffee was the best I have ever had at a hotel. There is no coffee maker in the room but the lobby is very close and the coffee worth the quick walk. They have electric vehicle charging by the way. And though I did not use it, they have a nice saltwater pool. You can park in front of your room so no hassles there. No stairs, elevators or bell staff. And no charge for parking, resort fee, internet (surprisingly fast) or other of the myriad add-ons that bother me in the bigger hotels. But remember. If you are staying here it is because you want to experience a mid century motel with modern perks. It looks like and feels like something out of the 50s and 60's. I travel a lot and spend plenty of time in the glitter palaces. If you want valet parking, a room big enough for a pool table and a $6.00 bottle of water in the mini fridge then don't stay here. You won't like it. Or maybe you will. Maybe you will figure out, like so many of us who travel like crazy, that spending time at a hotel/motel should not be a chore. And that you do not have to feel like a walking ATM. If you want an amazingly friendly, super clean blast from the past, give it a try. I bought a Hotel McCoy hat and I don't even wear hats. Loved it.
