I went with a colleague on a work trip, and we got free rooms. We had read Trip Advisor before so we were prepared for the worst. We burst out laughing when we got there - it's a very weird place, but the pool was lovely at night (we couldn't really see what condition it was in) and the rooms... more

So here it is the straight poop! If you are looking for a hotel that is within walking distance to 4th Ave. and Downtown (The Congress) this is an ideal location. My friends recomended this hotel when I told them I was going to a show at the Congress and didn't want to have to drive back to my hotel.... more

The Santa Rita has seen it's better days, but still does a good job when it comes to hospitality. And it's charm and history more than made up for the little quirks. The rooms although a little warn were clean and had a refrigerator and microwave. It's the location that's the best part of the hotel. We parked our car... more

Pictures on website much be 30 years old....at arrival, elevator doors didn't shut...pizza delivery guy in lobby told us hotel was being torn down in a month. Reached the 2nd floor room by stairs. Looking for room number, very surprised to see the room number was a Post It note attached to the door. Upon entry, found shower curtain falling... more

First, let's talk about what is good: *I slept well all 4 nights we stayed there. I do wear earplugs. *The breakfast area in the basement has a certain old time charm to it *The members of our group who ate in the restaurant had a good experience *The room was clean, and had a balcony *The hotel was in... more

I stayed here recently on a last-minute business trip. The hotel is run-down and in horrible disrepair. The hotel sign was destroyed so it was difficult to locate. Carpets were stained and dirty. Even the non-smoking rooms smelled like smoke. The bathrooms were falling apart. Beds uncomfortable. The "gym" included barely-working equipment. Hotel is also horribly over-priced. When I called... more

We stayed here in January, 2005. The hotel has been sold and is targeted for a major rennovation to become a boutique hotel and condos. In the meantime, current management appears to be letting it "limp along" without repairs. We stayed in 3 different rooms. Moved once due to poor condition of room and another time due to failure of... more

Perhaps I just ended up on an unrenovated floor but I found this hotel to be something of a disappointment. The public areas were in need of repair, with scuffs on the walls. The elevator was definitely past its prime. In fact, when I used it to go to my room on the sixth floor, it never actually stopped on... more

We had a free night in a suite at the Santa Rita due to hotel points. What a treat! This hotel is an oasis in downtown Tucson. The connecting restaurant is a must-do; for lunch order the "Chef's Choice" for $11. A husband had three Mexican gourmet dishes and I had three different ones, and we shared. The chef is... more

This older hotel had a certain charm, and the rates seemed reasonable. Some basic maintenance, however, could really improve the place. The tiles in the pool were really dirty, and the pool was filled with leaves. The wall surrounding the pool had some nice inset tiles, and the landscaping was quite attractive; however, the wall was definitely in need of... more
