My husband and I stayed in the Amelia Paysons House after my mother finding it online. We stayed in Salem for three days. The room was beautiful and very homey. Ada and Robert were very friendly and helpful in planing our things to do. Would stay there again in a heartbeat! Highly reccommended. More

Kristen, so glad you found our B&B to be all that you expected and more. Thank your Mom for us for suggesting our accommodations. See, you should always listen to your mother…… Don and I are always happy to help with suggestions. Even if we have not had the experience, previous guests are great in giving us feedback around the... More

Our first visit to Salem, we were lucky to find this place. The proprietors were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast of fresh fruit and waffles was delicious, and the room was very clean, neat, and spacious. The best B&B we have ever come across and an excellent value. The house is historical yet the bathroom was large and remodeled... More

Jen, thank you for your kind posting to Trip Advisor. Being considered the best is a great compliment as we certainly strive to make our guests comfortable, informed and provide a fun atmosphere. When it all comes together, nothing beats the B&B experience, especially if you prefer to be immersed in the offerings of your location. Some people only scratch... More

We have just left this lovely B&B after a three night stay. First of all, Ada and Don were delightful. Second, the house is lovely and felt just like home (only completely and utterly spotless!). We enjoyed the breakfasts and we found that everything was on hand both inside the B&B and in Salem itself - which was only a... More

Thank you for your contribution to Trip Advisor on our behalf. So good to hear you had a great time in Salem and that we provided a much needed comfort station at the end of your day. I hope you had a good train journey and made all the necessary connections. Now that you are on the west coast, I’m... More

My wife & I visit Salem MA often, sometimes a dozen times a year & have stayed at most of the Inns & B&B's in the city. Up until this weekend, we had never stayed at the Amelia Payson House. Well I wish we had stayed there sooner- not only is this B&B extremely clean, centrally located to everything (on... More

Thank you for taking the time to post your unsolicited review on Trip Advisor. Don and I were glad you had a good time and that we finally got you here, especially after hearing about how many times you’ve been to Salem. Not sure how we missed you over the 27 years, but there are so many great places to... More

I was extremely satisfied with my recent stay in Salem at the Amelia Payson House. It is a charming location near the Salem Common and the staff were extremely friendly. I had to leave very early in the morning (before breakfast is normally served) and they were very considerate to prepare a little breakfast for me and some milk and... More

James, thank you for taking the time to post on Trip Advisor. We’re glad we were able to meet your accommodation needs during your visit, and more than happy to provide a little something for breakfast that last morning of an early departure. I will assume you made your bus connection, and the trip home was smooth and uneventful. Again,... More

Staying at Amelia Payson with my sister this past weekend was a great experience. Donald and Ada are such nice people and made us feel at home. The location is just a short walk from all the shopping, and parking is provided at the B&B. Our room was clean and well kept - with wireless Internet and cable tv provided.... More

Thank you for your kind comments on Trip Advisor. Don and I were so glad to hear you had a great time together and that Salem proved to be a nice place to get away from it all and have some sisterly fun. We hope you always make the time to get away, just the two of you, to catch... More

This trip was a "girls weekend" with just myself and my mom. It was also a celebration for my mom who just finished radiation treatment in June and has won the fight!!! I had asked to send a package down, and/or to have Ada and Donald, Owners/Operators of Amelia Payson House. There was no problem at all. I decided on... More

Oh my, such praise, but surely, we were more than happy to assist with some of the details of your Mother/Daughter celebration of good health and it was really a pleasure to be able to provide the few items that would make your Mom’s stay a little more special; especially when our second home is the supermarket….Also, we were glad... We stayed here one night. The house had convenient parking in the rear. The innkeepers were very nice and helpful, even going over the map and making recommendations when we checked in. The room was very clean and comfortable. The home is older, but very well kept up with modern ammenities. More

My husband and I spent 6 nights at Amelia Payson House. We were pleased with the cleanliness and comfort of the facilities, the healthy and delicious breakfasts, and the proximity to all Salem attractions as well as to the train station. The best aspect of our stay, however, was the hospitality and helpfulness of our hosts. On the first day... More

Thank you for your nice posting to Trip Advisor. I’m hoping your departing train travel connections went well; seamless and effortless all the way back to Virginia. Glad you had a great time in New England. You certainly proved trains, ferries/boats and subways can get you just about anywhere along the east coast. It’s definitely the way to go when... More

The Amelia Payson House was a delightful place to stay! The house is beautiful and immaculately kept. It's conveniently located -- an easy walk to Salem's downtown, waterfront and most of the sights. Best of all, it has a terrific host and hostess who know how to make their guests feel welcome and comfortable. I am not a "morning person."... More

Thank you for such a lovely review. Don and I were glad to know you enjoyed a cool and comfortable environment here during those very hot days a few weeks ago. While that extreme heat is not the norm, it can be a real challenge walking around Salem’s when it’s 95 or more. Fortunately, those temperatures were short lived and... More
