It was actually 2003 when I was there. It's a historic hotel that according to some tales is haunted much like a lot of places in Salem. It's a beautifully decorated hotel with nice rooms and a wonderful staff. I liked the place. more
My spouse & I have been staying at the Hawthorne every Halloween for several years. We love the general old fashioned New England ambiance of this place. I love what you wrote about how warm and inviting the Hawthorne Hotel is, and the fact that you were made to feel so welcome late at night when you arrived. It was nice to stay in a hotel that was not so cookie cutter, they way most hotels are nowadays. The staff was professional and the location could not have been better. My in laws go to Salem almost yearly and always stay at this hotel. My husband and I stayed there two nights (my in laws as well). The hotel has “old time” charm and is very centrally located.
