This hotel was wonderful. I was so worried because I read so many bad reviews. The location was great, on a very not busy part of the riverwalk. Within walking distance or river taxi of everything we wanted to do. I can't wait to go back. more

I had a three night stay and was really excited about my trip prior to arriving at the hotel. I was greeted by one of the bellmen who provided great service---but that is where it all ended. This was a lovely hotel with helpfull staff ,clean rooms,the best pillows i have ever slept on and a nice clean pool with towels provided. We were made to feel very welcome and found Texans so nice more

Check in was smooth and easy. Asst Front Office Mgr was helpful with directions. We purchased " fancy coffee" from shop in lobby to enjoy the morning sitting by the river, beautiful way to start the day. more

After reading reviews posted here, and browsing the website, we were quite excited about our stay at the Holiday Inn El Tropicano. But when we got there, it was just generally disappointing. The best part about El Tropicano is that it is affordable. But, it was very disappointing. I had a lot of ants in my room, and the front desk (although sympathetic) had no idea what to do. I finally asked for windex so I could at least wipe off the smell trail of the ants, and they did send a... more

With the opening of the northern end of the river walk, the Tropicana is the perfect place to stay to experience downtown San Antonio to it's fullest. The location to major highways also makes it easily accessible to all the theme parks and shopping areas. more

Holiday Inn El Tropicano is a nice place. Courteous staff, nice lobby, nice pool. Room was nothing special - cool balcony though. My only complaint is that it is a little far from the action on Riverwalk. Takes about 15 minutes to walk there, and the Trollies stop running pretty early - around 9 or 9:30 if i remember correctly.... more
