What a great location. just minutes walking from everything downtown. The hotel is qaint but nice especially for the price. I looked at all the hotels while I was here. Garretts Desert INN was half the price that everywhere else was. I read a few comments about having to pay for parking. What downtown in any city do you know... more

We spent five nights at Garrett's in late October, 2009. Our first plans were to spend two or three nights in Santa Fe, and then move north towards Taos. We quickly realized we could see every thing, the museums, art galleries and surrounding Pueblos in three days. We extended our stay to five nights. The hotel was probably built in... more

Garrett's is conveniently located near the Plaza and it was easy to get to all locations within walking distance, including the Rail yard. The rooms are a bit worn, but kept very clean. The maids did take my soap bars away every day, even if I only used them once, which seemed quite a waste. Additionally, it seems they used... more

The good: Excellent location walking distance to all the town central sights, nice staff, easy parking, pet friendly. The bad: Showing substantial signs of wear and tear and is in need of refurbishment. Worn carpet, worn out sofa springs created a "sink while sitting" experience, light bulbs that may not exceed 5 watts. Try for a room that does not... more

This hotel is in a great location, really close to the plaza and everything else there is to do in downtown Santa Fe. You can walk pretty much everywhere. But ... that's about it. This hotel is old, not well taken care of, and in need of updating. We got a "special" rate of $150, and this hotel is definitely... more

I have stayed at Garretts at least 4 times and I must be crazy because only once did we have half way decent beds. We select Garretts because it is close to the Plaza and a reasonable price, but after this last trip, we will never stay there again. The beds squeek when you make the slightest movement and they... more

Checked in 9/509. After 1:00 a.m. realized there were bed bugs in my bed. Killed at least a dozen. Called the front desk and was told there were no other rooms to move me to. Hotel employee asked what I expected them to do? After some discussion, employee brought us a key to a different room. With no assistance, at... more

The location of this charming hotel is fantastic! -- 2 blocks from the Plaza, near countless restaraunts, shopping and art galleries. We were impressed with the attentive staff and the adorable, refreshing 'vintage' look of the hotel. We will definitely stay here the next time we visit Santa Fe. more

Yes, this hotel is no frills but ifor the price, you can't beat it! It is very convenient to everything in Santa Fe. We parked the car and walked to everything - Canyon Road, resturants, etc. The rooms were very clean. Staff was helpful with resturant recommendations and activities to do with the kids. more

We have stayed at the Desert Inn several times over the years, mainly because it's so close to the Plaza and is considerably less expensive than the lodgings near it. On the surface, it looks pretty nice -- clean swimming pool, flowers regularly watered, decent restaurant on-site, etc. But this time we stayed in two different rooms, both of which... more
