I stayed in the Trout Cabin for one night. The cabin was built in 1911 and has a wonderful rustic charm. It was terrific to stay in a place with a porch and screen door. There are hiking trails accessible by just walking out the door. There is a very pleasant dining room a few steps away via a lovely... More

Our 4 night stay at Skyland Resort was good. We were there during a very rainy, foggy time in early May. We were in Appledore and had great views when the fog lifted. After reading the reviews we were concerned but we were delighted with our room and surprised to find a TV and coffee pot in the room. The... More

We have stayed at various NP accommodations and had a basic idea of what to expect. Mainly, we don't go in expecting high thread count sheets and down comforters. First of all, location cannot be beat. Our room in the Appledore building was clean and well maintained. The bed was more comfortable than expected and the towels were thicker than... More

This is a resort I would place in a category between rustic and dilapidated. Way overpriced. Miserable Queen Mattress gave backaches. I expected no phone, no microwave, no refrigerator, some rooms do have a TV, but I did not expect thin walls. Great view from our room veranda. Entertainment was quaint, enjoyable: Clogging. Little to no service in Tap Room.... More

This is a beautiful park...great views, wonderful hiking, lots of history. BUT..the dining room....beautiful setting unfortunately not matched by the food. Seafood entrees were frequently overcooked and dry..and the food is expensive. Stick to Pizza!

As one previous reviewer wrote: it is a NP so we adapted our expectations . We did just that but having stayed in Zion and Bryce, this still fell short on a whole lot of things. We stayed here for 5 nights in a deluxe room ( quite big with a view, TV , balcony and coffee maker) ,number 91.... More

Let me start by saying we stayed at Big Meadows a few years back and knew what to expect as far as things being dated and a bit worn. None of that matters to us and we feel it's part of the charm of the area. That being said, our stay at Big Meadows was the exact opposite of our... More

Got away for a couple of days in Shenandoah NP and stayed at Skylands. Great view from our room of the Shenandoah Valley. The room was clean and basic, but large and comfortable. The location was perfect for hiking and enjoying the park. The main buildings for registration and the restaurant/gift shop and pub all have WIFI, if you must... More

This was our second time staying at Skyland in Shenandoah National Park. We had a motel like room in the Raven's Nest building which is one of the farthest from the main Lodge Building. The only downside was we had to drive to every meal. The room was comfortable and clean if perhaps a bit dated. There was some peeling... More

We calibrate our expectations when we stay inside the National Parks. So don't get wrong, it is not that we expected a Four Seasons. But I have to stay that Skyland set a new low point for us. First the good stuff: it is smack in the middle of the park, so that is very convenient. Our room had an... More
