Check in was smooth and the room was clean. Didn't notice the fan until the next morning. Wish the front desk staff had mentioned it. Was somewhat stuffy most of the night, and when we opened the window , the traffic right outside was kind of noisy. Good internet connection in th elobby. more

Sitka was a pleasant surprise- beautifully set on the water, clean as clean could be and even a bit of sophistication. The Westmark is in the same league as Hampton Inn and a quarter notch below Holiday Inn. From walking past the Sitka competition, I'd wager it's the best hotel in town. This was my experience: 1. Booking - easy; centralized; good rental car package deal, which I took. Nice big leather-seated car. 2. Room - sweeping views of Sitka Harbor and Sound. relatively high up. Clean. Quiet. Looks like recent remodeling or well maintained, at least my room was. 3. The WestMark was right on the water and near the boats, Bars, Shops and food. The Pour House is a Non smoking bar with a ton of history and then theres the Pioneer, which is a smoking bar with tons of history. We had a room with a great view of the water and mountains! The room was clean and spacious. The location was also great, right downtown. Make sure that they turn on the calling feature in your phone so that you can make calls if you choose to. They don't have a shuttle to and from the airport/ferry, but you... more
