We stayed two nights at the beach cottage on our trek-by-car from New York to Alaska. We did not want to stay in a hotel as we wanted a small place. This was the beach cottage on the owner's property where he also rents out a room in the home. Very friendly family who owns it and gladly answers questions about Sitka and Alaska. The cottage itself was roomy - two stories, three sleeping places altogether. The first floor contained two bedrooms, washer and dryer, and bathroom. The second fllor had a kitchenette and living room. There was a TV and DVD player with some DVDs. In the living room was a sleeping area. It nicely accomodated us, a family of five. There was a nice view from the second floor. From it we saw orcas. It is by a cove and we saw starfish. Couple complaints on arrival which the owner dealt with. Prior occupants left usable food in fridge. Owner said the maid leaves it in case the next person wants it. I felt that was a truthful answer. Clothes were... more
