Loved our stay in this classic building with 2 great bars, restaurant, wraparound balcony and location in the heart of downtown Flagstaff!! Yes, it is old, yes the rooms are small, but with a European feel, and I loved the fact that live music and friendly people filled the place. I have not stayed here on a hot summer night... more
The Weatherford Hotel offers a wonderful contrast to the corporate blandness of so many of the motels you are likely to experience on a US roadtrip. Well-preserved, perfectly situated and dripping with history, a stay at the Weatherford is a truly memorable experience. Rooms are compact and a little quirky – reflecting the age of the property – but comfortable... more
I realize this hotel was built in the 1800's so I accept that the room and things in it (bathtub, bed, etc) are tiny by today's standards by design. However, it was the little things that disappointed me. First, the desk attendants are all waiters too so you stand there waiting for help until they're done serving people food. Second,... more
The Weatherford isn't for everyone. Its been a hotel for over 100 years, a delightful piece of preserved history. Its located right in the middle of the old commercial center of Flagstaff. There is lots of activity in and around the hotel - restaurants, shops, bars etc. Yes, this and the fact that the hotel is two blocks from the... more
If you have any plans to book any private parties at this hotel -- beware! We booked a private room for a party this summer and paid a fee for a "private room". The room turned out to be anything but private, other patrons coming and going through it all night long. They even stopped to eat our food! I... more
Downtown Flagstaff is a very noisy place especially at weekends with the bars and clubs heaving with people and the trains going by honking their horns every 30 minutes or so. This was cleally explained by the manager when we checked in and he offered to cancel our reservation if this wasn't to our taste. He explained the Weatherford Hotel... more
If you're looking for a reliable, no-surprise experience, maybe you should stay at a chain hotel......but if you're the type that appreciates the uniqueness that certain places hold, by all means stay at the Weatherford. Our room was large and the bathroom was great with a free-standing tub. (I think it was a "suite" room) Yep, the lonesome train whistles... more
The Weatherford is interesting, like the adage "may you live in interesting times." My husband and I stayed there on a summer trip in June of 2004. Plusses: Great downtown location within walking distance of Flagstaff attractions. The price is right and the desk staff is very helpful. The restaurant offers on-site entertainment with both a restaurant and a bar.... more
The Hotel Weatherford leaves out some important information in their website description: First, the hotel has a 1:00 AM curfew. The front doors are locked at 1AM, and if you aren't inside yet, too bad for you. Also, the hotel is not just near the train tracks, it is about two blocks from the tracks, on which the train rumbles... more
