I had a good stay at the Marshall Slocum House. The location is great and most of the major destinations are within a short walking distance of the house. It's on a pretty tree-lined street with very little traffic, so it's very quiet at night. There's a nice swing on the front porch. The decor in the rooms is understated... more

My girlfriend and I just got back from staying in Newport at the Marshall Slocum Inn - fantastic weekend. You are close to all the shops, mansions, museums, restaurants! The Inn is so nice and extremely clean. We stayed in the Captain's Quarters, which was a good size. The bathroom was spotless....fresh towels always replenished. Mark and Dana were very... more

We really enjoyed the New England charm and antique decor of the inn. There was ample parking at the inn and the location made it easy to walk downtown or to the tennis museum area. The breakfast specialties each morning were delicious and we recieved a warm reception when we arrived. We will visit the inn again next time we... more

The Inn was centrally located for everything that we wanted to do. From the moment we arrived, Mark the owner greeted us and gave us an overview of Newport and provided us a map detailing all popular points of interest. The Inn had many preprinted walking directions available. Once we parked, we didn’t need to drive anywhere except to get... more

My mom and I just got back to Massachusetts today after a two day stay at the Marshall Slocum House. Usually, the only reviews I leave are really nasty ones for bad businesses, but my stay in Newport has compelled me to do the opposite. Mark and Dana's attention to detail was unbelievable (although I only saw Mark) - everything... more

Stayed two nights at this Newport B&B over one most glorious of weekends, weatherwise, imaginable. Close enough to walk to the harbor shops and restaurants, but far enough away to be in a quiet, airy, neighborhood with convenient off-street parking. We were particularly impressed with the cleanliness of the rooms and the bathrooms. The deck to the rear of the... more

My husband and I stayed last weekend and were so happy with the place! The house is so quaint and has a gorgeous front porch (with a swing seat) overlooking the quiet street and gorgeous big green trees. The grounds are perfectly kept and Mark cooked us a delicious breakfast on both mornings. We did not take a car and... more

Our recent one night stay at the Marshall Slocum Guest House was one of the highlights of our short visit to Newport. Upon arrival at the Inn we were warmly greeted by Mark who was quick to offer us helpful information for exploring Newport (it was our first trip to this city). Since our time there was limited to just... more

We wanted to get away for a few days and Newport, RI was the perfect location. We decided on the Marshall Slocum Guest House after looking at a few other places and could not have been more pleased with our decision. The inn keepers were great. Very attentive to every detail and very friendly. The rooms we very clean and... more
