While staying in Waikiki, I find that condominium buildings are more comfortable--and ultimately affordable-- than hotel rooms. But, in my opinion, Discovery Bay, it is not in the center of Waikiki as it is closer to Ala Moana and the Hilton Hawaiian Village. To some, that may be a bonus. But to me (a walking shopping beachgoer) it is a too far from everything else. The building itself is in fine repair, as was the unit. Upwards of 30 stories, the room views can be great or average (and noisy) depending on which way you face. Most units are true one bedrooms with kitchen or kitchenette. The building, partially owner-occupied, is well maintained and secure. There is controlled access parking on site in the garage. Several different management companies manage blocks of units in the building, so the quality and price will depend on from whom you rent the unit from. In the past, I have paid $85-200/nt. I recommend Googling “Discovery Bay vacation rental” for rental options.
