We exchanged a timeshare to spend a week in Hawaii. While the resort grounds were very beautiful the rooms needed updating, but we didn't mind that and yes it was a walk to the parking lot but the golf carts were always available to take us back and forth and Tommy was wonderful to us. What upset us the most... more

My husband and I stayed here after slight hesitation due to the reviews on this site. We went to Hawaii to get married and stayed in Waikiki for our first two days. We wanted something more secluded for the honeymoon portion of our trip so we set it up to stay at the Makaha. We could not have been more... more

Mahaka resort, January, 2009. Just returned and will not return to this resort. The facilities need renovating, staff was not responsive to complaints. In fact, when staff was informed about our disappointment in accommodations, we were told that's just the way it is. When we made the reservations we were "guaranteed a certain type of accommodation". Upon arrival, we got... more

Ok, first the good things. The grounds are GORGEOUS!!! Very well maintained, very natural, surrounding mountains and beaches are great. Most (not all) of the staff were very friendly. Shuttle drivers were pleasant and very helpful. Food at the restaurant was good, but overpriced. Now the bad. WAY too far to walk to the parking lot. Our first night I... more

I read the bad reviews and thought it could not be that bad. Well please belive the reviews. Worse area in the island to many homeless and resentfull locals. Wow, what a disapointment, we left after our first night even though we had paid for a week in advance. The rooms, specially the carpets, were dirty. The beds are the... more

I also lived on Oahu many years ago in Waipahu and Ewa Beach so I had an idea of the area - and we wanted to visit friends & tour the island so the location suited us. I admit a little hesitance in staying at the Makaha Resort Golf Club after reading some of the reviews here - but the... more

We lived on Oahu for six years so we do know our way around. Now we return for a couple weeks every year for vacation. Any place you go you can find good or bad to say about, depending on your requirements or temperment. Yes, there is the tent and homeless issue ... but who forced them to live there?... more

This was my second stay at Makaha. Even with all it's faults I have seen alot of improvement since my first stay in Feb. 2006. A lot of the negative comments are true, but since Fairmont purchased this resort I have noticed improvements taking place and am confident as more owners travel there and complain things will get better. I... more

We Stayed at Mahaha Resort for four days and we couldn’t get away fast enough the room we booked was a deluxe room and I have seen better Motel rooms. It was very dirty the windows haven’t been cleaned for years the linen was grubby, the furnature was old and falling to pieces, it is not up to international standards.... more

Makaha Resort was a beautiful relaxing getaway from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki which by the way resembles pricey Miami Beach. The resorts staff were very friendly with tons of information. My wife and I were at the bar alot since its the latest place that is open. We had a great time with Tiffany the bartender, especially the... more
