We were pretty annoyed when we first arrived as we had to wait a long time to be seen whilst they handed over shift (I'm not sure why they couldn't deal with us first or what took so long), then after paying found out they didn't have two beds in the same dorm. We were told its first come first... More

We've hired several new staff that are still learning about Hawaii, but our staff spends a great deal of time behind the scenes making detailed info. on happy hours, good eats, bus directions. We also reserve many tours as a convenience for guests, & are happy to look things up for guests on our computer. As far as your comments... More

When we arrived we met Lauren, a very nice girl from Chicago who helped us with our bags and reservation even though we were no guests at this time. She was very helpful and gave us great recommendations about the area. Thank you Lauren! Lukas and Arthur

Okay remember this is a hostel not a five star hotel. I felt safer here than I did staying in a cheap hotel. No visitors are allowed and you need to have a key or ring the door bell to get in. Its a minute walk to the beach and there are shops and restaurants within walking distance. The staff... More

It's always a great pleasure and humbling feeling to go back to Waikiki HI. I've been there 3 times now since 1996. I just can NOT describe how those people who work there are soooooooo great, very polite, very helpful, very kind to any customer regardless where you come from. My last visit was from March 21 to 24, 2013.... More

It was so much fun He took us to see places such as... More

I mean $25 a night in Waikiki and 2 minutes walk from the hostel to the beautiful beach, that's insane. Tons of stores, restaurants around, and the shopping street, I don't know the name, but it's perfect for shopping. I had two great times in the hostel, met so many nice people, and definitely including our evil-smiling volunteer - Larry.... More

Brilliant location. All usual amenities including free wifi boogie boards, snorkelling gear and beach mats. Volunteer Larry runs free tours and was a lovely friendly guy. Met some great people and had a ball. Byo locks and earplugs as waikiki is noisy. I am light sleeper and slept fine with the plugs.

This hostel was perfect for us. We got cheap flights to Honolulu, but every hotel was $150+. We found a private room at this hostel for around $60. Our room was located on the back corner of the hostel, so hardly anybody ever walked anywhere near our room. The primary negative was that the room was very noisy on our... More

I had a good time at this hostel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Every day the hostel sponsors activities by a nice fellow volunteer. The only negative aspect is the noise level from the ACs from neighboring houses and the garbage pickup trucks that roam the streets already at 5am. However, overall a good and cheap place to... I would recommend this place for hosteling folk! A short walk to the beach, lots of cheap, volunteer-led activities, and nice, helpful people. Thanks to everyone at HI Waikiki! I've stayed here before, and I'm glad I came back.
