This place is NOT fancy but it IS a great bargain for Waikiki- and it is in a great location at the Ewa end of Waikiki (right across the street from Fort DeRussy, and a block or two from the Hilton Hawaiian Village). Deserves 3.5 stars for value. The place is clean and the staff is very friendly. We found... More

Agree with other reviews when said you should rate this as a budget hotel. Good location if on a budget, has everything you need in a hotel, not everything you want. If beds and sliding doors were upgraded I would consider staying here again, Valet staff was the GEM of our stay. Front desk staff cold, unhelpful, and unfriendly no... More

Thank you for your recent response. I am sorry that your stay wasn't up to your standards. I can say though, that we will soo be opening a bar on our lobby level which should provide some entertainment to our guests. Hopefully you will consider returning to Waikik on your next visit to the islands. More

This hotel is usually clean and inexpensive. The glass doors to balcony are not insulated accoustically, so the rooms will transmit all bus car and siren sounds. I travel often and this was my 4 th time through this hotel and I had a dispute about a room charge, I had prepaid. In the attempt to resolve it, I was... More

I am sorry to hear about your experience with one of our personnel at the front desk. Since we are such a small hotel, we encourage cross training across our departments and those tasks often overlap to provide better service and efficiency to our guests. Though it does not happen often with our security staff, they are all trained with... More

The first thing I just want to say is that the hotel photos that you see on the site is not accurate to the real thing . The rooms are ok but I was expecting something a little better. The service is vary good and the folks at the front desk are vary nice. Valet is quick fast and easy... More

I apologize for this and can assure you that all of our room types have pictures that can be found on our website under the Accomodations tab. We have two large photos scrolling across the page on our homepage, one of our Penthouse guestrooms and the other of our Deluxe Waikiki room. I apologize for the misunderstanding. More

the location is good - central to waikiki, walking distance to beach, BUT: - very loud traffic noise (and that in an extra-paid 12th floor ocean view room. why? because hotel is at a fork of a major traffic artery and ther windows are single-paned, the doors to balcony not tight, the air con set in a hole in the... Thank you for your honest review of your stay with us at the Waikiki Gateway Hotel. I'm sorry to hear that our location was a hinderence to your sleep at night, that's never a good thing. However, our location is on Kalakaua Avenue, just up the road from Waikiki's premier shopping and restaurants and beaches. Although it may not be... More

Why this place is so rated so badly I don’t know? Location is good, staff are friendly, the rooms are secure its just cheap & cheerful. Please don’t compare this to the Trump or other big branded hotels, this place does not try to be one, it’s a BUDGET hotel. We paid backpacker prices via the ‘Hawaii 5-0’ offer on... More

My rental car was parked overnight in the valet service of the hotel. The next morning I discovered dried pieces of concrete all over the car. The manager told me they would take care of the damages but so far have not returned calls. The hotel itself is sufficient but I feel they should take responsibility for acts of vandalism... More

I am sorry to hear about your damaged vehicle. I do recall this event and have had our staff follow up with you. The proper precautions were taken by our staff in clearing our parking area beneath the balcony which was having some concrete restoration done, but apparently some of the concrete dust blew over towards your vehicle. On behalf... More

The price of the hotel was good, but the rooms are horrible. I guess you really get what you pay for. These rooms are very outdated. When you sit on the bed you sink like you are going to fall in, the bathroom had ants on the counter (so I left my toothbrush and toothpaste in my luggage every night... More

I am sorry that your standards were not met during your recent stay with us atthe Waikiki Gateway Hotel. The fire alram issue caused some unpleasant time for a handful of our guests. It did take our maintenance about 15 minutes to replace the damaged fuse and since the devices are so tempermental, they do tend to sound the alarm... More

The room I had was a deluxe ocean view. It was a fabulous room, two balconies one looking over Fort Derussey Park to the uninterrupted ocean views, the other overlooking Waikiki city with a glimpse of Diamond Head through the buildings. The rooms were very clean even though they are older. Mini bar fridge was of good size and worked... More

Given the price, the hotel was alright. Not bad. I think the lobby must have been recently renovated as it is not quite representative of the state of the actual room/s. Having said that, the room I stayed in was ok, covered the basic requirements. Location is not bad. More
