We pulled into the campground at 1pm on a Monday, and got the best site in the place. Overlooking the meadows, we woke to Bison and Elk every day, and had what we assume to be Grebe's sing us to sleep almost every night. We were in a tent for 9 nights, and it was a blast. it was cold... more
We had originally planned to stay at Madison Campground for our Yellowstone vacation, but after we had requested a site away from roads, they put us right next to the road to West Yellowstone. When we tried to change to another campsite they told us "Not no way, not no how". (See my review of Madison Campground for more details.)... more
We were tent camping so chose a smaller campground. (Jenny Lake, south of Yellowstone, is the only campground we found that is "tent only".) They have some "walk-in" (short walk) sites which are peaceful and look out over grassy meadows and small winding river. We just loved this campground. Centrally located to all of Yellowstones big attractions. Walking distance to the Norris Geyser Basin. Clean bathrooms and convenient dish washing room.
