Our family loves to tent camp, especially in beautiful natural places. The Lamar Valley of Yellowstone is one of our favorites. We stayed in a double Roughrider cabin which was only $79 per night with 3 double beds. It is like camping, but in a very quaint dry cabin, with wood stove heating, electricity, no running water. Community bathhouses are... more

We stayed at the cabins for 2 nights. The only negative was that we were supposed to get wood but never did so the cabin was freezing, but we had prepared for this ahead of time and brought extra blankets and made the best of it. It is a great base to stay at and explore the other areas of... more

We recently completed a 3 week trip to the states and of all the hotels we stayed at the Rough Rider Cabin (shared toilet/shower facilities) in Yellowstone was by far the best and most memorable. We had three nights in Yellowstone and spent two in the cabin at Roosevelt and the last night in a hotel in Grant Village. Of... more

My husband and I recently spent two nights in a Roughrider (non bathroom) cabin at Roosevelt Lodge. What fun! It's very rustic, but quaint. Hard wood floors, and the walls are (non-insulated) wooden panels. For heat, you have a little wood stove; and we certainly needed it at night in early September! The wood stoves can be a bit tricky;... more

Stayed in #86 one of the ADA room. Very spacious including a big bathroom. Only little problem is housekeeping forgot to leave us a floor mat so it was very uncomfortable with the bathroom floor wet after use. The AC is a modern one that works really well. There's a busy creek just a stone's throw away, I enjoy listening... more

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights last week. We completely enjoyed it! The location is perfect for early morning trips to Lamar Valley to watch wildlife. Due to the location, there are also a lot less crowding than you get down in Canyon and Old Faithful, or even Mammoth. There is a much less rushed pace here,... more

We stayed at Roosevelt Lodge in 2 Roughrider cabins at the end of July. Enjoyed every minute of it and, for anyone trying to find some 'peace an quiet' in Yellowstone, this corner and the little cabins are THE place to be. The beds are comfortable; the small stove - which I snickered we would never use before we left... more

We styayed in basic Roughrider cabin without bath. Public bathrooms were adequate and close by. The cabin was rustic and very basic. Prepare to snuggle -- our stove burnt out around 1 am and we woke up very, very chilly. Access to northeast corner of Yellowstone is unparalleled. It's worth the rougher stay, in our opinion. more

First I should say that my husband and I stayed in a Pioneer Cabin which had a private bathroom. I can't comment on the inside of the public bathrooms, but they didn't smell too nice when we walked by them! It was fairly large with two double beds and very clean. I think the area had only been open for... more

It's pricey, but not compared to other accommodations. This was the only place left out of all the hotels and camp sites available at Yellowstone when we were there in early August. The bathroom is a walk away, as is the shower. But it's a fun way to rough it with a decent bed. But it's like camping in that... more
