This 19th century fairy-tale cottage is located in a quiet town just outside Wanaka. It has been beautifully restored and tastefully furnished with period furniture. The front yard features a true English style cottage garden with stone pathway, rose-covered trellis and gingerbread trim. The owners, Marie and Brian, have clearly put their hearts into this lovely place, and we really enjoyed their friendly hospitality. Upon our arrival they both joined us in the parlor/living room for good conversation, tea and delicious shortbread biscuits. We were invited to use that room any time, with coffee and tea available.

Our rooms -- aptly named Lemon and Mint for the color scheme -- were clean, comfortable and each had a separate locked entrance from the outside. We appreciated the thoughtful touch of a bowl of chocolates on the bureau. One room has an ensuite bathroom, the other has a separate but private bathroom with delightful antique fixtures.
