CHEAP AND EASY TO FIND After a quite expensive stay in Stonetown I expected to only find expensive B&B's at touristic nungwi beach. We saw the signs of James' guest house all over Nungwi village when we arrived with the daladala. This way it was easy to find it. Though we did not book anything in advance and the two-bed-rooms... My husband and I stayed at James guest house last December for 10 days in a double room and without prior booking. We arrived in Zanzibar and found this guest house straight away as it is very close to the beach. It is not located on the beach therefore it is cheaper but it is literally a 3 minutes walk... More

Upon arriving at James's Guest House after a long flight my first thoughts were to have a shower, unpack and explore the area. When i arrived there was an assistant at reception who seemed to know little about my booking. When I eventually got the key to my room i was disappointed to find my room was cramped, dingy and... I went to Zanzibar for a couple of months to do a research. I am so happy about discovering James Guest House. The price is very reasonable and it was always relaxing at that place. The room had a comfortable bed with a mosquito net, a table and chairs and a clothes cupboard. It also had a fan. Both the... More

The place its just Ok but the owner and manager James and his assistant are very unpolite. Impossible to have towels or soap, breakfast not so fresh, but the worst was being shouted and insulted by the owner of the place, specially I am an aged woman tavelling alone so this almost spoilt my trip. Thankfully this was an exception... More

We at James's Guest House take the comments from our guests very seriously. Following your experience as written in Trip Advisor we made many changes at james's Guest House to ensure no other guest would have to leave with the same bad impressions. The Guest house is jointly run now by European and African staff. The rooms are freshly made... More

A great budget option. $25 per night with basic breakfast. Close to the beach and local restaurants. I checked out most of the budget options, and james place clean, tidy and good value. Has a bar and the staff are helpful.

James' Guest House in Nungwi provided us with simple accommodation for US$15 per person per night (low season rate during September 2011). We booked by email and paid with US$ cash on arrival. Our room was basic but served its intended purpose as a place to sleep and shower, as we knew we would spend most of our time in... More

I had very much looked forward to staying over in Nungwi and paid 50% up front to secure the room. James' English was very good compared to most locals and through his emails was very helpful and welcoming. (In terms of transport, I'd advise getting a shared people carrier from your accommodation in Stonetown for 10,000TZ ($6-7) which drops you... More

Save your money for cocktails! We had a romantic getaway at James' guest house, just a couple of mins walk from the white-sand beaches of Nungwi, and it was so good that when we returned six months later we stayed there again. James' is a real local character: friendly, laidback and with very good English, he made us feel right... More
