A real chateau, with large bedrooms, a little bit dark breakfast room. Breakfast was very good with fresh fruit juices and delicious cheese and salami. The restaurant was great. No menu in English, pitty! Helpfull hotel staff, but no one speaks English. Pitty!

I have a holiday home about 30 mins from the chateau. We have eaten here many times and it never fails to deliver. We have stayed overnight sometimes as with the wine provided with the meal driving afterwards would not be an option. The set menu is so varied that the choice is wonderful. They seem to change the menu... More

My French family has eaten at this restaurant many times over the years and I was lucky enough to join them in August for dinner. The food was a real treat and the atmosphere was great. For the starter I had pan fried foie gras with fig, followed by magret de canard and then creme brulee for dessert. I would... More

After seeing the website and visiting the hotel, we were really impressed...by the website photographer. What looks like a little gem of French luxury turns out to be a rather overpriced victim of the passage of time. You can feel the individual springs and horsehair in the upholstery and the last time I heard water that noisy, I was overlooking... More

Stayed here for 1 night on our way north, well worth a visit, and only 10 minutes by car to the centre of CARCASSONNE. The Hotel is a big old house, the rooms all have names and i assume all a bit different, so if you intend to stay here , check out their web site to choose a room.... More

Wonderful small chateau, unique individual rooms in a great setting. The restaurant is amazing, set in the old stables, with a fantastic single price menu, although each of the five courses has a number of choices to go with the 3 bottles of wine (Red, White and Rose) waiting on the table when you enter. Arrive at 8 - o'clock... More

We were renting a villa nearby so this review is only relevant for the restaurant. Five generous courses, as much wine as you wish for and excellent service, this was a great way to kick off our family holiday, incidentally it was packed so be sure to book a table in advance.

This is only for the restaurant as we are fortunate in having friends with a house in Cavanac - doubly fortunate considering the amount of 'free' wine you can get through if you've a mind to! This time we ate in the courtyard, which was delightful, even nicer than the restaurant room. Service is impeccable. A huge choice of things... More

tayed in Chateau de Cavanac in May 2012. We had booked the Mimosas suiteroom but heavy rainfall prior to our arrival had caused some damage and they contacted us to say that they were transferring us to Oiseaux de Paradis. The room was as described on their web site, big and airy and very quiet. We loved the fin de... More

Chateau Cavanac is ideal for anyone wishing to stay very near Carcassonne but out of the madding crowd. It’s about 15 minutes’ easy drive from the airport, on the west side of the autoroute, so ideal for a lovely stopover before after a flight. . We’ve used it 3 times, both with our kids and without. Cavanac village itself is... More
