La Boussole is an old stone-built farm building that has just become a comfortable holiday home for up to 4 people. Unchanged on the outside, inside all is neatly designed and simple. with roof beams exposed, oak floors upstairs, and natural stone walls. The kitchen area has all the modern stuff you need, including washingmachine. The airy bedroom/bath space upstairs feels luxurious. The gite sits in a pretty garden, with space for children to play and the friendly owner's home tucked away at the other end. Elisabeth has lived in USA and contributed a lot to our enjoyment of the area.
The gite looks over the village green of Themines, a tiny and very quiet place with that very important shop, a boulangerie. There's a restaurant (within walking distance) that opens by arrangement in the evening to serve a five course meal of simple but very good food for 15 euros including wine! The village is all stone-built, with the hipped tiled roofs of the Lot area and a 13th century market... more
