I cannot rave enough about our stay at Pieve di Caminino. It was simply perfect. We loved every moment of our honeymoon week here. We stayed in the Bifora Suite and it was the most romantic, beautiful setting. We ate peaches the size of grapefruits every morning on the tiled balcony overlooking the vineyard along with enjoying fresh prosciutto and... More

The moment we arrived, we knew we had chosen well: Pieve is magical. Emy Marrucchi-Locatelli graciously welcomed us to his home with a glass of the very good estate wine in the reception hall/gallery, which was a monastery built in the 11th century. The breathtaking hall, with its soaring ceiling and ancient arches and columns, is filled with antiques, art... More

We stayed at Bifora for 3 nights in late October. The place was a monastry build in the 11th century. Emy and his family has done a superb job restoring this place into a beautiful place to stay. Each room has a character of its own (we got to see two other rooms), but I recommend Bifora because of the... More

This is a historic resort that was once a monastery, all apartments have kitchens and the views are amazing. The owners are wonderful and offer many suggestions of things to see. There is also a pool with a panoramic view. Would return yearly if I could.

We stayed 2 nights during a Tuscony driving tour. Emy gave us a great welcome and recommended a number of dining and sightseeing options, but the accommodation itself, while pretty and well sited, could use some tidying up - rotten decking around the pool and blunt knives in the kitchen don't spoil the visit but did underline that at €150... Dear M. B. Thank you very much for sharing your experience with Tripadvisor’s community. Thank you also for your very useful suggestions: blunt knives have been replaced with brand new very sharpened ones (I am sorry you did not tell me once here we would have replaced them at once). Regarding the pool decks: we know, the extreme heat of... More

Was there in Oct. 2011. Stayed in the Bifora room (more like an appartment). The whole house is just incredible. So old, and yet, so well restored. The view from Bifora is impossible to explain! Not the best area to visit if you want to be bouncing around doing one thing after another, but, if you like to explore, and... More

Where to start!? WOWOWOW! This was the last week of our honeymoon and this place is one of the most unique and beautiful places we've ever been. It is ancient, fascinating and breathtaking not to mention the service which is welcoming, helpful and friendly without being obtrusive. At the gate to Pieve di Caminino we were welcomed by Emy through... More

My wife, 22-yr old son and I took our first trip to Italy this year and PIEVE DI CAMININO was the highlight of our 3 week tour! It’s the absolute perfect place to experience the beautiful countryside of Tuscany and enjoy the "softer" side of Italy after intense sightseeing in Rome, Venice, etc. We more or less stumbled on to... For us it was the second time that we enjoyed one full week in this great place. This is not one of your fancy hotel, which can be so much out of touch with Tuscany. Here you are in real Tuscany. The location is fantastic. The property is a true Tuscany home . We spent every day until 2 at... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Pieve di Caminino is a former XIth century monastery in the countryside of south Tuscany, owned and managed since 1872 by a family of Florentine architects. Authentic boutique hospitality in seven charming suites, sharing a 500 hectares 1.500 acres)fenced panoramic private property, with centenary olive grove, vineyard, cork tree forest, park with ponds and pool facing the suggestive Montemassi castle. Pieve di Caminino is not - and does not want to be - a luxury hotel: in order to respect all the authentic atmosphere of an original countryside XIth century property , our suites do not have TVs and telephones, because our guests prefer sipping wine in front of a gleaming fireplace or watching a stunning Tuscan sunset disappear into the Caminino olive groves, enjoying all of nature's bounty and beauty. (Wi-Fi free internet is however available). ... more   less
