Everything has been well described in past reviews, there is not much more to be said! What is most remarkable about the hotel is the level of service provided by Unni Marie and her family. While my wife and I are very low-maintenance travelers, we observed a large group with many needs being attended to in a manner that went... More

A bit late writing this review, but we had an excellent stay at Balestrand Hotel this past summer. The hosts were very helpful, and while it wasn't as fancy a locale as some of our other stays in Norway (the breakfast was excellent, but rather basic) it was a perfect (Norway-level) budget-friendly quality lodging. Dining options are limited in Balestrand,... More

Stay here for one night in late September 2010. Have all the basic facilities you will need for your stay: * No TV in room (but who need it anyway when you have a million dollar view outside). * Simple breakfast, * Self serve coffee and tea all day, * Owner will pick up & drop off luggage and suitcase... Uni Marie and her family operate a lovely small hotel with wonderful views overlooking the Sognefjord. "Splurge" for a fjord side room and enjoy the views from the balcony. Our room was fairly large and well appointed. Quiet too. The common areas of the hotel are lovely and breakfast is well done. Uni Marie will cheerfully provide a Treasure Trove... More

Our family had the pleasure of staying at the Balestrand Hotel, this summer. Balestrand, a quaint little town, is well worth the stop. Much quieter and less touristy than Flam. And a central point to spend more time exploring the fjords. The hotel is an easy, few minute walk from the dock and Uni Marie and her family are the... More

This hotel deserves a great review. The room was clean, the bed very comfortable, the view unreal, and the breakfast outstanding. Our only regret was not staying two nights in Balestrand. Uni Marie was so helpful in helping us get to places, by driving us to the ferry to Vik (at the last minute) or by giving us directions or... More

super cute hotel in an amazingly beautiful city! It's run by a really nice family so the service is unbeatable and they'll help you with anything you need. I really liked the personal feel here vs the big fancy hotel nearby. it's also more affordable, the breakfast is fantastic, they have free wireless and a computer for you to use,... More

My husband and I spent 2 nights at this hotel in August, and we enjoyed ourselves so much. Very welcoming and helpful hosts; clean and attractive rooms; lounge area where we would play numerous games of chess each night; delicious breakfast spread with breads, cereals, hard/soft boiled eggs, pickled herring, fruit, cheese, fruit juices, coffee/tea, and more. Such a beautiful,... More

Your hostess, Uni Marie, will meet you at the dock when your ferry lands at Balestrand. Place your bags in her green Volvo, and she'll speed up the hill and have them waiting for you at the hotel as you see the sights and take a leisurely stroll to the Balestrand Hotel. This is an inviting hotel, with a perfect... More

I stayed here for two nights, and loved my stay. Pros: Great view at a reasonable price. Good breakfast. Quiet, clean, and decently equipped. The bathroom floor seem to be heated. Great personal service. The owner, she is very helpful and always available. She took care of fetching the luggage from the pier, and getting it back there, which I... More
