Myself and a large group were attempting to complete a charity walk, walking the full length of Hadrians Wall for the charity "Help for Heroes". We had decided to stop off for a lunch stop and break at the Milecastle Inn. We were met with faces like thunder from the owners - of which they did not welcome us or show any hospitality what so ever.

We stayed in one of the self catering cottages at the Milecastle Inn and were very pleased with our time there. The cottages are only about a year old and very well appointed with everything that you could need plus tea, coffee, milk, biscuits and domestic stuff like washing up liquid. The bed was comfortable, the shower powerful and the view across to Hadrian's Wall was lovely. The Inn is very conveniently situated to walk quite important chunks of the wall - which is literally 5 minutes away. The cottage was small but that made it rather romantic. Which was nice.
Just up the road is a very good farm shop - Herding Hill - which sells excellent meat from the beasts that you can see in the field. That's good, apparently.
We didn't eat in the Inn but the meals looked tasty enough and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
